Thread: Deathloop |OT| Ah shit, here we go again...
Official Thread
Please report back!

I'm not liking this game as much as I should.

1) Its clunky. Movement doesn't feel fluid. There is a delay between when I move and when the game character moves. For example the automatic sliding doors. I press to open but it takes like a few seconds to open and sometimes you're pressing buttons to open while being chased and it still doesn't open until after you press it right.

2) The AI in this game is horrible. They're picking me up fairly easy. Now mind you, maybe I have to unlock further skills for stealth and that way they will not hear me but fuck me. Some moments I'm killing a guy and there is a person close by and he/she doesn't react. Or there is a person on the other side of the map and they hear me assassinate someone.

3) Hacking is that it for hacking, you press Y and you hack? Is there no hacking mini game.

4) Graphically i'm playing on a GTX 2080, 10 Gen i7 with 16 GB of memory. Some moments in the game look gorgerous other moments it looks lazy. Blood effects and killing looks stupid and lazy. There are no stain effects on the body and the gore is limited. I think I beheaded a few ppl.

5) When I am assassinating ppl its not fluid. Its like I'm teleporting onto them when i am assassinating them. It might be a latency issue.

6) You can crash your game fairly easy. I blinked outside the map and it crashed on me twice.

That's pretty much what I've been dealing with so far.

I'm still interested in trying this out, but I'm a cheap gamer waiting on prices to go down. I've seen it for $50 brand new shipped on Ebay (for PS5). So I suspect I won't have to wait all that long for into my personal price range for a game I'm not sure if I'll care about.

i don't think you will have to wait long. It seems to be under-performing.

Yeah this is why I love not buying things day 1 anymore unless it's something I'm pretty confident I want. I still get a brand new copy with patches that fix everything from the paid beta launch and get it for half price or better. Some may see that as being a cheap ass, but it works for me lol

Thanks for the impressions! How is performance? Any camera stutter or uneven frame pacing?

I saw Gamestop was selling the PS5 version for $40 too. I'm glad I haven't jumped in yet. Maybe that magic $20 price tag will happen even faster than I expected haha

Are the controls similar to Dishonored? I always thought they were just not accurate enough on consoles to play the game in a fast manner. Granted, it didnt hurt DIshonored much since you could easily just spend more time stealthing around but it seems like this game encourages more run and gunning which might be a problem if they havent tweaked the controls.

Wal mart is gonna have it for $25 on Black Friday. Dammit can't bring myself to buy physical though. Doesn't appear PSN is gonna have it on sale.

Yeah that's when I'm hoping to grab it. They have RE Village for $20 too. But if these are in-store prices, fuck that. I'm not setting foot in any stores on black friday.

What? That's incredibly frustrating. Is it still crashing? Or don't you play it anymore?

Given up mate. Had the crashes from launch. Then the big fix seemed to work.. now I'm getting similar crashes under a different error message. Literally the only game I have problems with so it's not my system.

The way the save system works means its impossible to play. Going to come back to it in a year or so.

What a shit show. Ok I'm definitely holding off on this one lol.

It's £16.99 at CDKeys today. I grabbed it. I love Arcane, I hope I am spared of the glitches some have encountered with the game.
Also interested in how it runs. Everything about this game interests me, so I hope it is good.

Right, so I played for 2 hours. I like it!

The game oozes atmosphere. I always loved Arkane's aesthetics, so the graphics, though not cutting edge, are very appealing to me, mostly due to the gorgeous design. It also plays very much like any of their previous Dishonored games, in terms of handling.

I played the first main mission/area and died twice but not a third time, so no restart for me (I have not read much on the game, so I am not sure exactly what items I can keep between loops/deaths).

So far no crashes, but there is stuttering here and there, mostly when I move between internal and external areas (as in, inside a house for example and about to exit or even look outside windows/doors to the open area).

First impressions ... very good.

Screenshots in screenshot thread. Where.

OK, OK. Sold at that price.

Finally got around to booting this up and played the first hour or so (got to The Complex for the first time). This is pretty damn neat. Plays well and has an interesting setting. Seems like most of the PC performance issues have been patched up, too. I'm running it maxed out at 4K with ray tracing options on and DLSS Balanced on an RTX 3080 and getting 70 ~ 100 fps most of the time.

I never beat the game and will probably never go back but the 8 hours I spent on the game where some of the most memorable I've had in years.

I rarely finish games now a days and give up after I've had enough of the gameplay loop. This game has one of the most unique gameplay loops and I'm grateful for the developers making it.

Ok so with the coupon on EGS, the game costs around 23 bucks. I think I'll bite. Performance seems fixed and DLSS should give me a nice fps boost.

I'd go for it mate. I suspect *some* of my initial problems were due to a unstable CPU undervolt I initially had. I definitely intend to go back to it someday soon.
