According to G-Man lives the PS5 version actually plays smoother and I think he said he's playing on like a 3080 i7 like everything top notch, he thinks it's the denuvo but makes it clear he can't say for sure what's causing the stutters. It sounds like they're more troublesome depending on how sensitive you are especially if you're able to play a version that's actually smoother.

PS5 versions plays flawlessly for most part in the performance mode (I've picked it for 60fps, don't really care about RT). There are some exceptions though during intense fights or when on the roof of the manor in Updaam (presumably because of seeing almost the entire district and a large animated structure in the distance).

I have now failed on two incredibly looted runs.... anger is building lol.

Game has got its hooks in me good and I cannot wait to play more. Currently my revolver and sword build seems to be the best.

The Digital Foundry video shows the PS5 version running at a damn near always 60fps in the performance mode except for one weird instance that they couldn't replicate. But the ray tracing mode, which actually shows some pretty cool visual enhancements, seems like the worst way to play due to the frame pacing brokenness we see in so many games even if you can handle 30fps.

I really tried to play Control on PS5 with ray tracing on, but it was unplayable compared to the smooth and near-locked 60fps mode. This game might be the same.

Same for me I opted for 60 frames per second and control this is why I believe the rumors that they're already doing a PS5 pro

This right here is my main issue! Glad someone recorded it. Holy shit this made me alt f4

Damn I would quit as well. I've been getting lucky with my rig apparently. Very little issues with Cyberpunk, The Ascent and now this which all are optimized terribly on release.

Hopefully they can fix the pc versions quickly.

Any one get the multiplayer matchmaking to work? I have yet to be invaded and I tried twice to invade others but it always got stuck on connecting.

DF PS5 analysis

Performance mode pretty much locked 60fps with dynamic res scaling.
Visual mode with higher res, but fps in the 50s, sometimes lower. No other improvements, just sharper image.
RT mode with way better shadows and AO, a significant improvement. 30fps but bad frame pacing.

Performance mode is the best because it's a stable 60fps. RT mode would be a good option but the frame pacing kills it.

Mouse stutters. On PC. Ouch. I think I'll wait a bit on this one, despite liking a lot what I see of this game. Enough other shit to play, might as well wait a bit.
Oh yeah. Look at the video I posted above and you'll understand how frustrating it is

Its like they're forcing mouse acceleration by default

Dishonored 2 also had a technically disasterous launch, also on the Void Engine. At this point, I think Arkane should junk that engine.

Supposedly it's based on id Tech, which is amazing tech, especially with the new Doom games, but evidently Arkane are too incompetent to get it working properly. The only new release of theirs that hasn't had technical issues was nu-Prey, because they just used CryEngine out of the box rather than messing with the engine.

A beta update for testing have been released on Steam and it actually fixed the stuttering!

To access it: Right-click the game > properties > betas > put code juliannashotme

and done! Now you have a playable version fuck yeah

Turned off Bloom, feel like that helped alot. I am playing at native 4k 60fps and wasn't sure if AA did much at resolution but looked at the big fence on the Complex level and it still did. Was loads of shimmering at a distance without it. So glad I know now for future games. Still not sure which type makes the image the least blurry.

I was just getting into it and had two crash to desktops. I'm pretty sure I'll love the game when I get use to it. I always feel a bit of stress when I'm learning a open level for the first time 🤣.

Yeah there's nothing special visually or nothing that we haven't seen before. This what happens when you insist on using a garbage outdated engine.

Unless I'm remembering it wrong I never had a problem with Dishonoured franchise or Prey. It's kind of like the enemies are virtual constructs (especially the way they die) than physically present. Almost like a graphic novel style but the environment is more detailed than that.

One hour in and the 8 visionaries seem very indistinct. Maybe they will come into their own and that's the intended effect at the start. Before I go to their zones and meet them etc.

What I will say is I absolutely love the banter between the two main leads. Absolutely the best aspect of the game for me.

The AI is really bad. They walk right into my gunfire a lot of the times or just stand still. Place a turret around a corner and alert them. They'll all run right into the bullets one after another.

After playing two hours I figured this would be a game I drop early. I guess that was more of a tutorial phase though? The game then opened up, I got some powers and applied the residium to a purple pistol I really like. Since then the game has been more fun and I see what they are doing with the loops & times of day.

The downside is still the game is really easy. My pistol is really easy to get head shots with that kill anyone with one bullet. Start to throw in some powers and my guy already feels pretty over…powered…at the start of the game.

Unfortunately the AI was solid before testing and complaining. After the complains they made the AI stupid

Does this mean anything to anyone? It crashes within the hour usually every 20 minutes 🙈

You're one of the unlucky ones that experienced a crash and now it'll never stop. Luckily I never crashed once so my advice is to stop playing it for now so you don't end up hating it

Yeah I'm currently investigating it on the steam forums there's a fair few of us. I guess that number is still small compared to everyone else that's enjoying it. This is the only game I have had a problem with. My parts are quite high performance but common so it's surprising.

Its not your hardware, its the games garbage engine and optimisation

If it was wouldn't it affect everyone though?

Ironically my performance at native 4k, max settings, locked 60 with ray tracing has been spot on apart from the crashes.

I find it incredibly weird how such an experienced developer releases a product with that many technical issues. Especially since it's only on PS5 and PC. No old gen with 4 consoles, no Xbox, no Switch.

It simply wasn't a priotity for them to get this stuff right on PC. Therefore they won't get my money, despite me wanting to play that game.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm waiting for the weird frame times to get fixed on PC. Looks like they addressed it here. Will wait for confirmation from some tech tubers. If this and the crashes are fixed, I'll jump in and play that game! - After I'm done with The Ascent.

Want to try this game out. Waiting for the bugs to be fixed. Anyone has an update on if a majority of the reported bugs have been fixed with this newer update?
