Stayed up to play the intro. Impressed so far! The graphics are really impressive.
Watched the Digital Foundry video.
That shit looks pretty good overall! Lighting is ok, flat in many cases and not really convincing, missing self shadows, but the rest is really strong. Great textures, terrain, draw distance, image quality (outside of PS5 Amateur Performance mode), nice characters. In general a ton of details and elements that show how much effort went into this, with all the neat cloth physics and animations.
Hitting a super stable 60fps is awesome on Pro, Amateur seems like 30fps is the best option because of the image quality.
This made me think of Witcher 4. Because with DS2, the devs hit a great balance. Only lighting and shadows are lacking, but the consoles weren't designed with RT in mind, so it's too expensive in many cases. I think they made the right choices for this game. Really curious how Witcher 4 will compare. Going with RT lighting, latest UE5 features, targeting 60fps as well. Something will have to give I'd imagine.

Remember the gaf thread on mgs5, where gaf worked out the phantom pain, and that doctor that did head transplants was the same doctor in the beginning of the game. Fuck I miss that. Whoever it was that worked out the logo, had metal gear solid 5 hidden it.

I dont think this game is for me but I do appreciate the topographically realistic environments. That's one thing that really takes me out of games is when their worlds feel too gamey like the FarCry games.

Can't wait to play this but I will unfortunately have to wait for the PC/Xbox release. I hope the soundtrack is as good as the first game, some of those early moments as you are mid delivery when something amazing kicked in hit like crack

This. Art direction trumps pure bleeding edge graphics, though combined both can excel. Few games actually manage both without compromise. Death Stranding 2 does look absolutely insane.
I'll maintain Wind Waker, Okami, Tales of Vesperia still look as amazing today as when they came out due to their art direction.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm even more hyped now. The trailer was stunning. I'm happy we are getting more tracks from Low Roar also based off the credits, his music was incredible in the first game. I only recently discovered he passed away a few years after DS 1 was released.

Interview with the Kojingles himself. Very interesting questions bringing quite a good amount of insight.
I like how he's still doing this where he makes the most story heavy, deep and convoluted games, then tells people "just have fun man, don't think about it too much".
