I can't wait for the world cup too. I actually love football but that's not why I'm excited. EDIT: Also, apparently the mod is literally nothing more than replacing texture files from the Middle Eastern versions of the game. So this is Insomniac's own files that this modder just added to other versions.

Kinda opened up pandora's box on Twitter / PCGamer on this subject. These people are fools. You're apparently a "bigot" if you replace the flag with the american flag. Which is crazy since it is a single player game and your mods affect no one but yourself.
It's a dumb thing to get pissed about, it's true. But the hypocrisy is what people should be up in arms about. You can mod in murder, mayhem, change characters, change soundtracks, totally change the game itself, that's all fine, but changing the rainbow flags is just too far.

It appears that anything that goes against "the current thing" is a no-no. Logic, hypocrisy be damned, if you question pride, trans, blm, ukraine war you will hit a ton of resistance.
What I have noticed is that Twitter is screwing with my post too, my complaint pointing out the bizarre demand to remove a mod in a game that is entirely single player goes up about 10 likes and then within an hour goes down another 10. I find it hard to believe that people "change their mind" with such frequency.

You should 100%. I'm currently playing Skyrim VR so I can't risk it. Need mods to make it not shit.

The only issue with the whole thing for me is the half assed approach by companies to change things like this for different regions. If it's something you truely support you wouldn't change it regardless of sales or laws and just say fuck em if they don't want it. That's why I hate large corporations. The only thing they actually care about is your money. Everything is pretend to hope it helps get your money.
