Thread: Black Myth: Wukong Discussion and Reviews Thread

Just showed up in my YouTube feed and wanted to share. Haven't had the time to watch the whole thing. Just skipped through it and looks amazing. I'll watch it later.

I don't what it is with that game. It looks good but something bugs me.

The Black Myth: Wukong release date is August 20, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Revealed at The Game Awards 2023, the Black Myth: Wukong release date trailer gives us another exciting look at the upcoming action-RPG rooted in Chinese mythology, developed and published by Game Science.Based on Journey to the West, one of the four classical novels of Chinese literature, the game puts you in the shoes of the Destined One, challenging you to venture into a fascinating yet dangerous world. Master and combine different spells, weapons, and abilities to suit your combat style.

Oh man I love everything I see in this game. Love the graphics. Love journey to the west (be it Dragonball or the ps3 game from ninja theory. Love the design of the monsters and the fantasy world they created. Count me in. Imho the most interesting triple a game in a while. ..Only thing left .. they have to deliver. From the trailers it's a 10/10. But it's their first game afaik so still cautious.

Looks better each time, this trailer was awesome, really great. Curious how this will look on consoles, and how it'll run because that's some advanced shit in there.

Gameplay wise, hope it'll be well balanced and not going all out on parry and high difficulty like Lies of P did.

Wait I thought that was the title of the new Ass Creed?

Seriously though game looks pretty rad.

Oh man I hope it's gonna be as good as the trailers are and not only boss fight after boss fight.

A lot of exploration and the world wasn't shown or did I just forget?

It's weird, apparently there's SO MUCH STUFF in that game. I mean, over 80 bosses? Over 160 enemy types? Like wtf is going on here that's insane.

I'm not surprised. Wukong and his companions encountered a LOT of enemies during their original Journey to the West. If this game can even capture a fraction of the insanity of their adventure, it'll be a feast for fans of the original novel for sure.

Hope the gameplay too is up to par with all that story content.

Yeah I was just surprised by the amount of content, so many bosses and enemy types, it's so much work and so much more than what's usually in games. Over 80 bosses is nuts.

I don't believe their CPU specs for one second. RT is CPU heavy, UE5 is murdering CPUs in general.

Also, no frame rates being defined shows a certain level of incompetence or ignorance. Is it 30 or 60 fps? My guess is 30fps because then it's mostly GPU dependent and it might explain the CPU part in these specs.

I fully expect journalists to fellate this game as a comparison point to Elden Ring even if its turn out most of the game isn't comparable.

Looks really cool. But.... is that stick the only weapon? I kinda need my huge as swords and axes in those games.
For the Monkey King? Yes. It's iconic and his trademark weapon throughout all the media featuring him.

I wouldn't worry about Wukong having no other weapons. Remember that the game gives you his legendary ability to transform into other forms and thus allowing you to use other arms.
