Thread: Army of the Dead - Directed by Zack Snyder (Zaddy), Starring Dave Bautista
Maybe, I actually don't remember now. Was meant to re-watch the movie tonight but my brother started falling asleep halfway in (just FYI he does this for every movie we watch, it's not because he thought it was boring haha) so I didn't finish. But yeah I can't picture that either.

Last time you see her Zeus has her pinned on the wall after he hit her with rebar. The last we see of her is Zeus breathing on her face then we cut away.

just re-watched, she's at least passed out when you last see her, possibly dead from the impalement

Not really much into Zombie movies anymore these days (always seems like the same shit to me), but might peep a watch because you guys seem to like it.

You guys talk like we get so many zombie movies, I wish we got as many as people talk like we do.
I am not much into the genre, but watched Walking Dead, 28 Days Later and its sequel, World War Z, and a few others.

In a way it's always the same story and setting.
10 little Indians in very similar setups of urban and rural fucked up environments travelling overland trying to reach some kind of "safe place" (usually an army base).

Along the ride there are little "points of light" (the scientist's institute or a little farm house, or an urban hideout. Where they usually meet some rag tag survivors that share some bad news with them), where the heroes can rest for a moment, but it's usually not what it seems at first, and then the Zombies attack and the heroes have to further travel along to the ultimate "it's not what we hoped for" when they reach the "safe place" in the end.

Walking Dead the show sucks, tbh, the comic is way better. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are pretty good, not the films I'd hold up as the best of the genre. World War Z was very mediocre for me, they should have put it in theaters with its original third act not to mention the R-rated version, though it's still a pretty lame movie even if you watch it unrated, not sure if the original third act could save it.

That's it, Stifler, YOU'VE DONE IT NOW... I'll be making a best Zombie movies thread!!!

I am trying to watch this. I'm 45 minutes in about and they still haven't gotten into Zombie Vegas.

I am mostly watching because I like Bautista and Dillahunt.

you guys are impatient fuckers, I'm picturing you watching Alien like "guys, I'm 45 minutes in and no Alien yet, movie's gay" (heck even longer if you mean the final form)

Tig was fun. Didn't care for the ending..
Not clear if
Tig and the stoopid mother chick died.. also why wouldn't black guy just end himself immediately

They dead as fuck. We don't get to see what he does after finding out, to me it's sequel bait, would be interesting to see him as ruler of Mexico City in a sequel. Unless you mean when he got locked in the vault?

But how do you know
spoiler

Well, you failed at spoiler tagging but...

anyone surviving that crash is kinda silly, though people have survived helicopter crashes, it looked like she checked on the chopper and then moved on, meaning to me she saw no signs of life. It's not something the film would leave up to interpretation, had they survived it'd show them getting up or some shit.

I must admit I too wondered what exactly happened to the daughter's friend as well?

I assumed she died but I'd prefer to see her mangled carcass, obv. These are always pretty good, I think he gets some stuff wrong, though, like claiming ]the daughter gets everyone killed, technically what set off the zombies was the jerk guy decapitating the zombie Queen, but her antics did get MORE people killed than would have otherwise, for sure, so small sticking point there. I also think he's wrong about them walking all the way back to the edge of the quarantine zone when they decapitated her, it's made clear that journey takes hours when they're describing the heist, it's why running out wasn't an option. I do agree about the weight problem for the helicopter ride, apparently the evil plan was to just kill their pilot because evil dude could fly, himself... but that doesn't explain the other characters not realizing the weight would be wrong. I do think they excised dialogue on why they needed a safe cracker, there's a point where Dieter tells them it's some kindof random sequence and he only gets one more shot and if he gets it wrong it locks forever, it could be some kind of weird safety measure the vault enters when shit goes wrong, which it had. A line of dialogue would have made it work, like Scott asking Tanaka why he can't just give them the code. Considering the length of the movie I get why they wanted to cut down on that stuff, maybe they ought to release an extended version? All the new stuff the zombies do like hibernating, being robots, the shamblers dying in the heat but reviving for a few hours in the rain... all that stuff is cool to me even though not much is done with it in this film, these new cinematic universe ideas really change the way we consume films, I feel, it used to be such things weren't acceptable, a film had to be a complete piece of art but people don't care as much if it's not any more. Vanderhoe never using his signature weapon (besides in the opening credits) though is sort of unforgivable.

Welp, just watched it.

And seriously? That was one of the most boring pieces of crap I've watched. If I could number down the negatives to this film:

One, the cinematography was awful. What's the big idea of Snyder using these shit cameras to blur parts of the scene? It's fucking distracting.

Two, I didn't give a fuck about any of the cast. Shouldn't a goddamn zombie movie make you like your main characters so that you fear for them whenever death comes close? The only ones I think came close to being likable where Tig Notaro and the coyote lady. The rest are just a bunch of the worst kinds of stereotypes you'd see in a Michael Bay film.

Three, it fails to do anything original or interesting with it's premise. An army of zombies in Las Vegas? You'd think with a setup like that we'd have a roller coaster of a film. But no, the movie is largely a boring ass setup for a finale that is incredibly dull and uninspired.

This movie ranks way below Snyder's remake of Dawn of the Dead from 2004, which was an enjoyable film. Hell, I'd even rank his other cinematic abortions like Sucker Punch, Batman v Superman and Watchmen over it. IT'S THAT BAD.
