Someone explain the virtual game card setup for 2switches. I understand the game lending system, but is there a way for both linked systems to use the same game offline from each other? I'm thinking of a situation where my daughter wants to play Mario kart on a plane on her system, and then I want to play on my system later in the light.

I don't think you can. Had a look this might have a work around.

Today my kids have been pouring over their own (small) digital collections and looking at the (much larger) digital collection on the family Switch, picking out what they want to "borrow". It's fun to see them get so excited

It's pretty cool I just wish they did this a few years back would have been brilliant mean it's a great selling point. Saves money as well.

Yea that's basically what I was hoping for. So basically, in my scenario, my daughter has Mario kart on her system, goes offline, I load Mario kart on my system, and then we both can play on the plane offline on our systems.

I think it's a fair system. Basically the idea was "how do we give people the flexibility of physical ownership digitally" and I think they executed that in a pretty fair way. The only thing physical has over digital in this form would be the ability to resell.

My daughter is going to do a lot of this I suspect.

That's actually the part that, as I understand, won't work. Both systems need a license for the game to work. One system gets a license from the virtual cart. The other gets the license from an online ownership check. So one system is offline (to prevent the ownership override from the software owner), and the other is online.

Im sure soon People will find work arounds and when this happens. Well I am sure updates etc. but I wonder how long this will keep going on the switch for ? Wait. Is the eshop essentially the same eshop for both switches, so it w
Should be a good long while right? at least five more years after the switch is put out to pasture I'm guessing ?

Well I'm still buying physical carts for SW2 if I can help it, but over the next 4 years I'll buy SW2 Lites for the kids to replace their aging, beat-to-death Switches. The ability to make a digital library on the main family SW2 and loan out games will make impulse buys a lot easier.

My Switch is slightly beat up too. I have a tempered glass on it so it will probably look brand new one day if I ever take it off. Not sure if it's easy to remove it or not though

Well shit.

I really hope there is a work around since I imagine it's going to be a fairly common use case. It's something I'll have to battle with maybe once a year so it's not really a big deal, but it would still be good if there was a way to hot swap the virtual card offline without resorting to homebrew stuff.

I had crack glass on mine before and also phones! It's normally not permanent adhesive. Just lift it up slowly.

Use those flat plastic tools like similar tools like iFixit.

Plexiglass screen protectors were a genuine next gen improvement. Every time I put a switch lite into a birthday box or under the Christmas tree, I bundled a screen protector Day One. I remember those flimsy plastic ones in the DS and PSP days…. 😰

Only downside is you need to have the switches in close proximity damn.

I want to say that it's just for the first trade. I think they said that in the direct but I'm not sure anymore. Tried to do a trade with my brother on my family plan 200 miles away and it said we had to be together to do it.

If anyone knows more about this and has tried it let me know.

On the subject of screen protectors, I've only ever used one on my Tesla and that one is matte because I'd rather lose sharpness and gain not being blinded.

For the switch 2 do we know if there is an anti reflective coating and if not, if I put a clear screen protector on it will I notice?

The videos I've seen compared Switch Oled next to Switch 2. There was no glare on Switch 2 but you see glare from the Switch Oled. Cannot not fine confirmation that Switch 2 has anti glare screen.

But I just watch this video, I wonder how the glass protectors will affect how you view with the new features. VRR, HDR and screen looks to be IPS.

Take a look at how they view Switch 2 in different angles!

I finally got around to sending in my joycons to Nintendo for stick drift on Monday and they are fixed/replaced and being mailed back already. I'm impressed with that turn around time.

Is there actually a legitimate reason, that's worth the time and effort, for Nintendo to sue? Is Genki showing a mockup going to negatively impact Nintendo in any way? Or is thins just a "give me money" situation?

The legitimate reason is breach of agreement and trademark violation (since a trademarked design was displayed without the owner's agreement). If companies of that size could operate like people, the affected side could "let it slide" since next to nothing came of it. But things are what they are, and Nintendo can't set a precedent of allowing that kind of thing to "slide".

Never heard of Genki until this most recent lawsuit involving Nintendo. How did they manage to get Switch 2 information?

They have been a manufacturer of Switch-compatible accessories for quite some time now. Two things that immediately come to mind are the Genki Bluetooth Audio Adapter, and the Genki Covert Dock. They are also making generic accessories for mobile devices, and other things like the Steam Deck.
