50,000 copies. Ouch.

Where did Avowed hurt you?

This will be the last time I respond to you.

Don't bother responding to him anymore it's a waste of time that's what he craves in life

But....Kvally posted a tweet where the dev says they're number one in multiple European countries AND America. And they managed to do that only selling 50,000 copies?

And Xbox, and on Game Pass, and on Battle.net in addition to Steam on those locations.

:ROFLMAO:

Stereotypical libtard. "I can't respond to you so IGNOOOOOOORRRREEEEEEEEEEE". And who asked you to respond in the first place, dumbass?

You're an embarrassment to your parents.

DA the Failguard also shot to the top of the charts. Turns out if there's fuck all else out it's achievable.

Just made a character and played a bit of the intro mission. The game looks and runs well. Seems very polished! A bit disappointed that it doesn't have HDR support (second game in a row after Kingdom Come II...).

Probably not going to dive in deep until I finish KCD II, but it seems pretty neat so far.

Are you playing on PC gamepass? When I launch the game HDR on windows automatically enables

Edit- I think you might be right that's a bummer I had mine enabled for nothing lol

Still hardly touched the main campaign just playing side missions and bounties. About almost wrapped up on the second location. "Just 5 more minutes" vibes

How's the writing so far? From the videos and stuff I've seen it seems quite exposition heavy and lacking the sort of depth Obsidian bought to KOTOR 2, New Vegas and the Pillars games. The Outer Worlds had some intriguing characters, hoping for something similar here.

I think Josh Sawyer did those games. He's not credited for Avowed afaik.

I know Sawyer oversaw directorial duties for Pillars, but couldn't find information on the writing team for Avowed. Chris Avellone was the senior/lead designer for NV and KOTOR 2, but he's long since departed the studio. Was hoping that the team who worked on Pillars were present for this one.

Well like I said I barely played the main story just doing side missions and bounties but from what I played I think it's generally good but the way it is delivered is very stale. Similar to how it's done in The Outer Worlds. Completely static conversation camera, NPCs standing in place in a town with exactly two things to say to you, notes lying on the ground that spell out exactly what a character is thinking, etc. But you do have good control of the conversations.

To be honest, in my opinion this games greatest strength is the gameplay, combat and exploration and finding all the secrets in every nook and cranny.

50,000 copies. Ouch.

I'm guessing that Game Pass will make up a decent chunk of the player base for this so the number of copies sold would not represent the number of people playing the game?

The game does look like your typical Game Pass slop though. Just like Starfield and others. Not so awful that you wouldn't give it a go if you had Game Pass already but not worth going out of your way for and hardly likely to be remembered in a few years.

Grifters gonna grift and shills gonna shill but generally this looks like one to avoid.

Why limit themselves like that though? I do feel Outer Worlds could have been more, if it had more. Maybe same for Avowed though I do see more of a positive reception compared to Outer Worlds.

Avowed had articles and reveals on how it did not have what Skyrim did. I think that it absolutely no favors.

Skyrim, a Multiple Generation Defining Game is honestly unfair to compare to a vast majority of games but people generally do expect more from their RPGs after 20 years.

Games like prior Skyrim, Witcher 3 even Pillars of Eternity 1/2 the direct prior but future set games to Avowed, Divinity Orginal Sin 1/2, Pathfinder Kingmaker/Wrath of Rightous, Baldurs Gate 3 have set a lot of standards and expectations for better or for worse.

I do like they have gotten an update out already which is promising support wise. Baldurs Gate 3 likely also has Obsidian and Microsoft eyeing the potential of Pillars of Eternity 3.

I feel like Avowed and something like Skyrim are two different types of games. Avowed is a smaller scale but focused gameplay/combat. Bethesda should seriously hire whoever worked on the combat for Avowed. It feels so much better than any first person RPG I've played.

Hopefully, we will see more bumps once word of mouth spreads. Id be pleasantly surprised with 25k. Shame MS is trash when it comes to any marketing

Avowed has been literally every other commercial on HULU and amazon for us for what seems like a month and a half. I don't think they're skimping on the marketing...

Well I don't have Hulu or Amazon so I guess that explains why I haven't seen anything. If it wasn't for the developer showcase I wouldn't have known anything aside from the DEI drama

One of the reviews I read liked the game, but said the enemy variety was really lacking. He said you fight a lot of skeletons and bears through the whole game, any truth to that?

There's more than just bears and skeletons and each location has there own types. But yea enemy variety isn't the greatest compared to other games. I don't really have an issue with it personally because they don't respawn once you kill them so it doesn't feel repetitive or anything

Ulrask in Steel Resolve was a fun fight!
Kicked my but a few times but my axe did good work of him :)

I just did the tutorial level, promising mechanics, I want to do some sort of warmage build but I'm not sure those are compatible. Also the stream quality sucked on gamepass. I wonder if their bandwidth is being strained with the launch.

Although it doesn't specifically call out the UE-Alabama issue i hope this patch will resolve it for PC users

About what I did, I gave it a quick test drive and made a rogue. The moment I started shooting arrows the interest was gone as it's just a really bad destiny-like where you shoot your gun and get impressed by a # that pops up until a boring enemy is dead. Just feels more of the same and watched enough end-game video to understand what it is.

Went back to KCD 2 as the direct comparison I'll make between the 2 is that choices are a lot more meaningful in KCD 2

If anything from what folks have said it looks like a better exploring game than anything else so I may jump in again later on
