Mirage is pretty cool. Baghdad and surrounding area are gorgeous, filled with great details and atmosphere. They should keep Assassin's Creed in Mediterranean and Middle East regions. They work best there. Japan is too overused and boring.

Game is more stealth oriented, social stealth is back, bow is missing, enemies damage you pretty hard in combat, you can't outgrind them because you don't really level up. Story is more linear and focused than Valhalla or Origins. Probably a lot shorter, but I'm only 5-6 hours in and not too far in it.

Visually it's the same as Valhalla, but they added DLSS antialiasing, so it looks super sharp and not smeary. A bit dated, but good enough. Controls and audio are perfect.

Mirage looks great I just haven't touched it because I couldn't beat Valhalla due to collector's fatigue. I feel like I'm missing out too much on the story if I don't beat Valhalla first so it may be a year or two until I come to it.

My approach to open-world games for a while now has been to just go with the main quests or story quests and ignore basically everything else.

With very few exceptions most games are not keeping substantial content too far from the beaten path and, again with few exceptions, difficulty is never high enough that you need to engage all of a games systems to get through it.

Ubisoft are among the worst for this.

The problem is with that mentality is sometimes you're just undergeared/underleveled for the MSQ if you don't side quest. Then there's the inverse where if you sidequest too much you become godlike. Most games lately though seem to nerf sidequest exp so you have to do like 30 of them to get 1 level and it just barely helps you cause now you have +5 hp, +1 str, and a talent in 1% chance of sometimes doing an extra 10 damage to mobs. All these exp/talent tree/open world games are fucked lately.

Thought it was curious to see what library I actually had associated with UBI.....apparently I've had a Ubi account for 18 years now with only 7 games purchased which makes sense as a majority of them were physical copies on console.

Sad to think I'm skipping all Ubi stuff going forward. 18 years of good will thrown out the door in just a couple years of mismanagement, DEI, and eventual company sale.

Finished the game. Ended up 100% it which took 28 hours.

It's a good game. Has a few rough spots, mostly in the latter half, but it as far as open world presentation goes it's perfect. Ubisoft art design is just unmatched. I always want to screenshot everything. Here's some more.
