I liked the first one, but Part 2 honestly felt rushed, esp given DV decided to circumvent the whole Alia issue and condensed the timeline. I legit wish instead of making two films they'd opted to adapt Dune as 3 or 4 season HBO series instead. That way they'd have been able to expand upon the books and the characters in greater detail versus ignore them. A lot of people diss David Lynch's 1984 version, but at least attempted to cover more of the storyline.
Surprisingly, not a dude.
Not surprisingly, one of the most utterly insufferable, fake, narcissistic bags of shit to ever walk on two legs. There are Wicked promo tour videos of her and her almost equally insufferable co-star giving interviews for the media. It was nauseating to watch.
So tranny bullshit is going to run away with it this year? Cool, enjoy the ratings.

I've only seen Dune 2.
Dune 2 was pretty bad.
Sy-Fy Dune Mini-Series remains the best adaption by far. Even if the visuals are very dated now, it actually follows the plot and ending for the most part instead of the wild divergences or complete removal of pivotal scenes in the Denis Villeneuve films. It was underwhelming, yeah

Dune's writing suffers for the same reason the Napoleon movie's writing suffered. Hollywood is very touchy on glorifying rebellion and masculinity. Paul is supposed to be a seasoned warrior after the time gap and Chani is fine with being his concubine to marry Irulan and secure the throne. Instead we're getting twig Paul and a feminist Chani.
I haven't watched Napolean, but honestly, I think now we are in the day and age of peak TV drama unless you have quite a tight, compelling story to tell that happily fits within a 2 - 3 hour time frame, then you're far better to think about making a TV series/mini-series versus trying cram in 1000 pages into 120-180 minutes.

When I first heard about a Lord of the Rings TV show, thinking it was just the books done again with breathing room, I was actually excited. Then of course we all realized it was a Amazon prequel series that they were going to butcher.
BUT, I agree completely. A damn good show that fully covers a book or topic sounds way more satisfying now than a movie for me.
Haven't heard good things about this movie, middling according to most people
I honestly don't give a shit anymore, especially after they implemented DEI mandates on who gets nominated. Fuck that shit. Reward a movie for it's quality and not diversity.
I couldn't even imagine The Lord of the Rings trilogy being nominated let alone winning an Oscar in today's climate. Too many people would be up in arms at how white and patriarchal it is. Sorry if you're offended by a fantasy story written by a White English Oxford professor with a love for languages and Anglo Saxon mythology. It's mad that they are getting away with presenting themselves as the awards for the best movie, actor, etc while very openly admitting that no matter how good your movie could be you can't win the best movie award unless you obey the DEI rules.
So obviously the trans movie gets 13 nominations but I doubt there is anyone out there, even among those praising this film, who doesn't understand exactly why this is getting those nominations.
This is the natural evolution of the "Participation Trophy". First everyone gets a trophy. Eventually though nobody feels special because everyone gets a trophy. We can never go back to the traditional system of only the best getting a trophy because thats patriarchal or whiteness or some shit. So in the end, we need to ensure that the trophy is not handed out based on merit but based on some new criteria that basically comes down to "whoever can claim to be the most oppressed gets the trophy regardless of ability".
Were about to see a man win the best actress though as all the actual actresses cheer and applaud so that's pretty funny to me.
