Thread: Come in and tell us your Black Friday hauls
Sales
Not really black friday related but I picked up the new Retrobit dual analog Saturn controllers [2.4g wireless, USB, hall effect sticks]

Do sex games count? 1200$ in butt plugs. I really care about others' needs.

I know I'm going to regret this, but how do you spend $1200 bucks on buttplugs? Is that like a hundred buttplugs or a handful of super fancy buttplugs? I know literally nothing about buttplugs, but assumed they were like 10 bucks.

My haul this week is a lot less fascinating.
Got a 2 pairs of headphones, one for my PC one for all sorts of devices headphones. The PC headphones still had a delay despite having its own super fast dongle thing, so those are going back.

Also bought a bunch of Quest 3 games.

Spent wayyy to much this year,

Got:

Anthem MRX1140 - Jesus this thing is amazing, if you have a Denom/Maranz/onkyo/Sony reciever, you haven't heard good audio. This thing produces the cleanest, cleanest most precise sound I've ever heard. Wish I had gotten rid of my Denon 6700h a long time ago.

Sony 85x95L - another insanely good but expensive buy. This thing, even being an LcD, puts my old CX to shame. Sony knocked it out of the park with this thing. No LCD screen can touch it, and it man handles the older oled's too (can't touch the A95L or QDOLED's, but none of them are in 85" sizes so I couldn't buy any of them. Maybe next year! Technically bought It in October but got it price adjusted for Black Friday so it counts!

PS5 Dual Sense controller - got it for a steal ($120, coupon won't work anymore otherwise I'd share) hasn't come in yet so no impressions.

Portal Cable tools (rotary tool and nail gun)

Lots of coats, shoes and shirts for work/travel

2 EKWB 360mm S Quantum Radiators. Lots of Ekwb stuff on sale right now so if you enjoy water cooling your Pc, have at it!

Steam Deck OLED (512gb). Comes in tomorrow!

Monitor Arm for my Samsung 57" Ultrawide monitor.

Tons of Steam Games (Spider-Man, Soiddrman MM, Teardown, Horizon Dawn, Starfield on Steam (had it on gamepass before) and FF7 Remake so I can start a modded play through before Rebirth.

And my Packers beat the Lions today. What a good Thanksgiving :)

Glamazon has a 20 percent off warehouse items. Gonna try my luck on that Alienware 34 inch OLED. 585 with tax in "acceptable" condition. But no description at all.

I've had mostly good luck with their "acceptable" where the box was destroyed but the item was flawless. Lets see how it goes.

Walmart has sparks of hope for $14. Get on it yall

Not only that but I think that's the version with all the DLC. If it is, I'm buying it bc the DLC alone is 30 bucks.

edit - The "Cosmic Edition" is what I saw listed as a BF deal somewhere for $15 and I'm seeing it's actually a Best Buy deal. And it also does not include the expansion pack DLC.

But I have the base game already and it's fucking great. So underrated.

Wasn't on sale but just bought Telltales: The Expanse. I had it earmarked for a while and figured 'fuck it' .

Got an iPad gen 9 (2021 model) for $230 with an in store only deal at target. Im really happy with it. I can't believe I went my whole life without having a tablet. It's worth it.

Yeah I've been eyeing those Galaxy tablets for a while now. I just can't do that price. Getting a cheap iPad would be great. A tablet is one of those unexpected nice things to have, like a smartwatch. You don't fully know why you'd ever want one until you are using it daily and then it clicks.

Amazon had it for $15 too, but despite never showing it out of stock it kept getting rejected at checkout. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check Walmart and Best Buy.

TBH, not feeling that bad if I miss it. That is the kind of game actually worth full price to support. The first is one of the best TRPGs I've ever played and polished more than a lot of Nintendo games.

BB and Walmart still have it for $250 I believe

How does Sparks of Hope compare to the first one? (which I do need to try at some point.)

I agree with this so much. My only Apple product is an old Ipad Air 2 that I still use daily. Battery life is horrible now, but I mainly use it to browse D-pad and Youtube right before bed. Will look to replace it next year, bought a laptop this year so want to hold off on another purchase like this until I can get a good deal on the Ipad Pro, want the bigger screen for my older eyes.

---
My main two purchases are this LG - gram 17" laptop:

Needed to replace my old 17" laptop. I bought this for the screen size, as I need it for my trading setup to see the stock charts. I thought I would use a laptop for gaming from my previous one, but if I was going to game on the go, it would always be a portable console.

Second thing is this adjustable Power Rack Squat Stand w/ J-Hooks & Pull Up Bar:

Mainly so I can get better at pull-ups. The pull-up bars in the door way were messing up my drywall so I wanted to use this instead.

Now I am looking to pick up some (mainly) Switch games with the current sales.

I really f'd up a couple of doors with the iron gym back in the day lol.

Now I just ride/walk to the park and workout there but itd be nice to deck out the back yard with dip/pull up bars sometime

How does Sparks of Hope compare to the first one? (which I do need to try at some point.)

Basically it's better in every way with a couple exceptions. I liked how the first one had ultra hard levels you could do at the end. Sparks has its challenges but doesn't ever ramp up to balls hard.

There's also just a charm from the first one being the first one. But the aspects that matter seem to all be better in the sequel IMO.

I got RE8 Gold, just played the first few minutes of it then stopped because of below.

I'm on the verge of buying an LG C3 48", going to look at one in person tomorrow hopefully. Any thoughts either way?

I've been debating it because I can't currently take advantage of the HDMI 2.1 with my 1660ti, so it will encourage me to build the PC I've been putting off for a while. Maybe when the 4000 Super models land in the near future that will finish things off. Maybe I can start putting a build together of PCPP tomorrow.

But playing RE8's intro with all its darkness made me realise that even without that I'll be able to enjoy the colours and contrast if nothing else. I just need to be careful with settings and push 1080p rendering so I can maintain 60fps unless I upgrade.

IMO, C3 is not worth the price over the C2. At least when I was buying the 77 inch C2. If it's $100 more then go for it. Any larger increase and I'd say C2.

I can possibly get the C2 for about £280 cheaper if it's in stock, but most places it's about £130 cheaper. Not many places still carry it from what I can see at a glance, and the site with the big discount says to phone a local branch to ask about stock.

Edit: Looks incredibly unlikely that the cheap C2 is in stock anywhere

I would keep checking. I just got mine at the cheapest price it's ever been at from Walmart.

Yeah, that's where I'm at. I'll pick up a lot of stuff at $20 if I even vaguely want it, but there are a lot of games currently at $30 that I just don't wanna pull the trigger on yet. Maybe next black friday or something.

The halo/bloom effect of a bright object on dark background is what killed that tv for me early in my research. Went in Best Buy and clearly saw the white of the Samsung logo bleeding into the black background, decided on the C2 right there and never looked back.

What you saw was an overbrightened demo.

You can make an lg oled look washed out too.

Mate that is a heap of nonsense, both technologies are equally capable of pure black, but the lg with its white sub pixel can actually look grey or cause flashing artifacts in compressed dark scenes. Lg oled also has piss poor uniformity, and a game mode that has crap processing and upscaling.

Im honestly shocked at how good the samsung is. Hdr too, like DAMN it pops. Motion is good, everything except out of the box color is legit.

Just my thoughts and experience being a tv nut/salesman obsessively combing over tvs and settings, people can take or leave my advice. And if you're happy with the c2 im not telling you to stop

I learned to avoid and ignore Samsung back when their popular messes were everywhere. Interesting to see that they're now making things that are genuinely good.

But Samsung doesn't make that TV smaller than 55", so that's not an option at all. Size is a non-negotiable factor, unfortunately. 48" is already pushing it.

Care to share your experience on the pros and cons of any 48" OLEDs you've seen in your time? I know they don't have the same brightness because the tech has to be different at that size.

Ahh, I thought you wanted a 77".

Ok so basically you have 2 options, lg c2/3 (and @Haxan7 is right, the c2 and 3 are virtually identical so get the c2 for cheaper if you can.) and the Sony a90k.

Between the two the Sony will have much better picture quality in game mode, esp. in upscaling lower resolution titles… it's a big difference there.

However smaller Sony oleds with lg panel have significantly worse hdr than lg due to a lack of hgig support, so properly tuned hdr will look duller on the Sony.

Lg's upscaling is not bad outside of game mode and the motion is good for movies as well. But I once had an lg c1 and Sony a8h oled side by side playing a switch game, and the c1 looked like dog shit lol.

Input lag is lower on the lg, but the Sony is not bad at all and most people probably won't notice.

I did wonder why more people don't go for Sony, even though LG have the reputation. Sony have always been reliable enough for me.

I was in a shop today and very nearly pulled the trigger, but backed out at the last minute. I just don't need a new TV, and with the compromises in colour it makes me wonder exactly what I'm upgrading for. Contrast and motion? Not worth a grand right now tbh. Maybe if my current TV was dying.

Yeah Sony's smaller panels just don't compete, but the larger screens are the best in the consumer market right now. The A95L is the best TV currently available to buy and the x95L is the best 85"+ screen available.

Hey guys does anyone know if this game is worth it?

Reviews are middling but apparently the game evolved a lot and you can buy it with all the DLC for 18 instead of 90 bucks...

I have it on PS5. Not a bad Diablo clone, though it takes a dozen missions to really get going (in terms of unlocking stuff for your build and getting decent gear). Missions are fairly short without much backtracking so that's a plus

Picked up Halo Infinite for $15 from Best Buy... and I wish I hadn't because it continued souring my opinion about the state of gaming and its fanbase today. 😒

Hoped the price on the latest Asus 32" miniLED monitor would have dropped by now, but no such luck. $1500 is crazy high.
