Even throwing the Switch in last minute, because that's quite the different design itself.

Feel the same? Have you changed your mind?

Personally, I've gotten quite used to all three. Larger vertical consoles make sense to me now, occupy a cool place in my living room, and I've loved gaming on the larger screen of the Switch, and the unique functionality of it.

That said, I'd still like to see a smaller PS5 and Series X. Same design. But the monolith feel is growing on me, and I think both consoles make a 'statement' about what they are, in a cool way.

I really like how the PS5 looks while standing up. I have it on an end table to the left of my TV, angled just right. It looks like a damn promo shot. The controller charger station is next to it and the Pulse 3D gets put in the same area. Looks damn slick, I must say.

I do not like how it looks horizontally, though. Everyone else I know who has one has it laying flat. It somehow looks bigger and fatter that way. The Switch still looks pretty cool, but it really needs a revision that has almost no bezel. Just all screen connected to 2 Joycons. The XSX is fine. I liked the look of it when it was first revealed, but it is a bit plain. I guess many years from now, it won't have aged as poorly as the PS5 design wise. A plain black shoe box will just always be that. But the white, wavy, weird as fuck PS5 will look bizarre when it's old and scuffed up.

Yeah, I thought about asking people if they'd set their console horizontally, but I'm not used to that and never will be. Both look incredibly ugly that way, imo.

At first I thought I'd hate the PS5 design, but... I kind of love that futuristic, powerful unique look it has? You're right. Set it up vertically in its own space, and it almost looks like some really cool promo shot. If they could get it down to PS2 size, vertically, I think it'd look even better.

I've always thought the Switch was cool as hell, loved the look and I still do. I loved the look of the Series the moment it was revealed, it's so sleek modern and minimalist. I still love the looks of it.

I've never seen a PS5 in real life, I don't know a single person that has one. Everyone I know is Xbox or PC so I can only go by pictures and I still think it looks ugly and dumb, but it probably looks better in person.

I'm still not really a fan of either MS or Sony console; the Xbox is just a squat, black rectangle and the PS5 looks like some kind of weird vase (or maybe one of those old vhs movie rental cases if it were popped in the oven for a bit, all melted and warped). The switch just looks like a run-of-the-mill handheld, although I do wish it didn't look like it was made out of cheap plastic.

The PS5 is one of the ugliest machines ever made by men. I had to re-jig my entire setup to fit it in.
Yeah. Same with Xbox on the re-jigging. Wouldn't fit in my entertainment center, so I went out and shopped for a little sort of display table for them both. Looks cool, but what a pain.

I mean, technically, they would have fit if I laid them sideways. But I refused to have a Yule Log and a melted Ice Cream Sandwich in my entertainment center.

The XSS is ruined by that big black circle, but is otherwise inoffensively nondescript. 4/10.

The XSX is just incredibly boring, looking eirher like no effort was put into it's design whatsoever, or the goal in its conception was to create something that would feel at home in the dullest accountancy firm in the world's offices, where no one has ever experienced joy, and what's more, no one there ever wants to. If the latter, they succeeded in this goal. 5/10

The PS5 looks like a Frenchman designed it, for both good and ill. Unique, clearly having a degree of aesthetic talent involved in it's creation, it's clearly not meant for those ashamed to draw attention to their hobby, but by the same token, it doesn't really fit in with a lot of people's styles. Also it's bloody massive. 7/10

Overall I'd say this gen looks worse than last. The Switch, PS4 and even the WiiU all look better than current gen systems. Only the OG Xbox One looks worse than the current lot.

Hopefully the inevitable Switch 2 and mid gen redesigns look better, or at least in the PS5's case, smaller.

My opinion regarding the PS5 hasn't changed. It's still an ugly, big ass interstellar white supremacy sauron abomination.

Series X is a boring box, but inoffensive. Somewhat classy. For a fridge.

Series S has a great size and looks like a funny Bluetooth speaker.

Switch looks ok. Until you actually hold it, because it feels like cheap shit.

That said, I don't care that much about looks of this machines, it doesn't influence my purchasing decision.

I think the Series X looks great, the Switch is okay (I think the kickstand is an embarrassment though), and I still absolutely hate the design of the PS5. I usually don't really care about designs, but the PS5 is so fucking ugly it makes my eyes hurt, and I'm generally someone who favors Sony products. I just don't know what they were thinking.

I actually looking into getting custom covers for both my xbox and PS5. I will show the final product if I ever find what I'm looking for. I hate how both look now.

I genuinely thought (projection) more people would have gotten used to them, but it seems they're pretty contentious still. I think there's only a handful of people in the thread who mostly have positive feelings.

Was taken aback by the PS5 unveil. But After having it here for many months I could not imagine it looking different. Its large, but super slick looking. Especially now that I moved it from by white entertainment center to my black desk setup. It pops in a most excellent way.

Series S in person looks better than photos. It looks fine.

Series X I like vertical. Horizontal it looks like nothing. Just a weird sideways box. I can't help but think the disc drive should be on the bottom.

PS5 looks like a vagina and I can't unsee it.

Switch in the dock looks out of place imo. Outside the dock I like it a lot.

I won't buy a ps5 until there is a redesign. Not only is the design ugly and big enough to require thought to fit in a lot of entertainment units but white matches NOTHING in my suite of kit.

So glad I stuck with my PC lol
You say that, but I think almost all PC cases look bloody awful.

Almost all are boring grey boxes, most of what are considered 'small' make the PS5 look like the PS2 Slim, the 'gaming' ones almost all just slap a load of red, pointless plastic greebling and LED lights all over the place, and they're almost impossible to add into an entertainment system without sticking out like a sore thumb. The few that do buck these trends are ridiculously expensive, often with the cases alone costing as much as some consoles.

PC gaming has an enormous amount of advantages, and I'm leaning more and more to getting one this gen over a console, but design aesthetics is not one of them.

I think the digital ps5 looks best vertical and its the one I'd love the most. But I'm a sucker for physical media, so I got disc version, and horizontal hides the asymmetry of the disc slot, looks a bit weird vertical but horizontal looks fine.

I think the best looking pc cases are modern lookin cases coupled with hard tube cooling, like some of the maingear pcs. But water cooling is higher maintenance and more delicate.

I think if you're looking for something small, might be good idea to get a small laptop with hdmi out or use some adapter to get hdmi out.(I think the zephyrus g14, and g15 probably some of the best out right now.)

Honestly yeah, laptops are increasingly what I'm leaning towards over desktops, especially given the whole GPU market situation currently. The relative value of laptops is probably the best it's ever been currently in regards to gaming.

But that's also a point of irritation to me with PC's, if I'm honest. There's almost no middle ground between laptops and desktops. If I could get a decent gaming laptops specs, in the same compact size, but without the keyboard and screen, that would be the ideal PC for me. The only company that seems to really do that is Apple, but they're just crap for gaming regardless.

The PS5 is much larger than I feel it needs to be and it takes up a ton of space. The Series X, sitting next to it, looks tiny in comparison.

Overall I prefer the look of the Series X.

Also, I've found that it's much easier to keep the Series X clean and dust-free, compared to my PS5.

PS5 still ugly. Though dual sense is fire and awesome.

Both XBoX are just inoffensive but with some unattractive design quirks.

Switch is nice kit outside of its massive bezel.

If they can get a X in series body and ditch the giant speaker lol maybe in 3 or 4 years then it would be pretty cool.
