Thread: Resident Evil 4 HD project 1.0 - Official Final Trailer
Finally after so many years. I followed their thread since the beginning and was impressed with every update they provided. They did some absolutely amazing stuff like searching for the real life objects that were the base for the low res OG textures to use them for their project.

Saw this and got a thrill of excitement. It's finally out.

Finally.

Finally I can play Resident Evil 4 again.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • This is not a remake, it's a remaster created by fans, for fans.
  • The "resident evil 4 HD project" is a complete graphical remaster of the entire game. It includes enhanced textures, 3D models, menus, cutscenes, prerendered videos, lighting, visual effects, and more.
  • The HD project also fixes certain sound bugs and broken / missing effects, which arose mainly as a consequence of the many times the game has been ported through the years.
  • This package doesn't include the entire game, only the files to upgrade the game.
  • You need to have an installed copy of the resident evil 4 PC port, released on Steam.
  • The HD project is compatible with all languages, including the Japanese version. It's tested for version 1.0.6 & 1.1.0
  • Some mods are not compatible with this project. Please ask the modders who created your favorite mods to adapt them to the HD project if needed.
  • This HD pack won't affect achievements or game saves.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • Processor: Intel® CoreTM 2 Quad 2,7 GHz or higher, AMD PhenomTM II X4 3 GHz or higher
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Video Card RAM: 2GB (minimum)
  • HDD: 38 GB (approximately)

Brilliant. Considering I have zero faith in Capcom recapturing the beautiful absurdity of this game, should the REmake 4 rumours be true, this will absolutely be the best way to play this awesome classic going forward.

Anyone know a good/safe/minimal torrent program? I might have to do that instead of a paid sub to Mega or waiting about 10 days to get it all

For anyone who's going to be going in balls deep from start to finish, your old save data is located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{yoursteamid}\254700\remote\savegame00.sav

That file contains everything, so simply delete that and it's a fresh start.

Not sure if someone already grabbed it but I posted this on GAF for anyone who doesn't have it already:

LVRI8-5XGNK-69C2T

Its a global Steam Key.

I shot the merchant while I was testing out an old save and even though I won't continue from that save I still feel bad.

Amazing work, shameful fucking show from Crapcom on this one, they should buy this give this person/team some money and issue it as a patch.

If you're like me, and still have muscle memory for the GC/PS2 controls from a long long time ago, then find \Resident Evil 4\BIO4\input.dll

Scroll down to the XINPUT_CONTROLLER_A section, and replace it with the code below. You can replace B or C if you like in case you want to quickly swap back to the original layout. Back up your original file either way.
This will give you classic PS2 controls, which are the closest match for current controllers.
A (PS: X) is shoot/confirm
X (PS: Square) is run/cancel
Y (PS: Triangle) is inventory
Shoulder buttons and triggers swapped back
Start is the pause menu
Select is map

Now you can aim and shoot with R1+X like it always was when the world was better

Warning: there seems to be no way (that I know of) to swap button prompt displays on screen at this time, so if your QTE says mash X you will need to mash A and vice versa, same with trigger QTEs

A Resident Evil 4 fan who spent eight years making an HD mod for the game has landed a job with a game developer as a result.

Albert Martin started the Resident Evil 4 HD Project in 2014 along with fellow Resident Evil fan Cris Morales, and finally released version 1.0 in February 2022.

Now, in an update on the mod's website, Martin revealed that he had been hired by a studio specialising in similar retro remasters.

"I'm really happy because I'm finally and for the first time in my life working in the videogame industry," Martin wrote. "Thank you, Joel, for having faith in me, and thank you, Stephen, for the opportunity in Nightdive Studios."

The mod replaces almost every texture in the game with new high-resolution textures, and replaces a number of flat objects (such as lamps, candle holders and doors) with new 3D models.

For some of the textures, Martin actually travelled to the same locations in Spain and Wales where Capcom took photography, and took the photos again so he could make higher resolution assets that were as accurate as possible. In his update, Martin noted that he "can't wait to play" Capcom's remake of Resident Evil 4, which is out this week, stressing that in his mind the remake will never replace the original because "they are two different experiences".
