Which fighting games do you guys play?
The one with my ex wife, two times per week.

Video games wise, I have been playing Street Fighter since SF2 Turbo in 1995 on the SNES. Tried almost anything bigger coming out like Tekken, Soulcalibur, Mortal Kombat and some more obscure stuff like Last Blade, Samurai Showdown and Ninja Masters on the NeoGeo.

But in the end, my big love has always been and will probably remain Street Fighter.

MK11 is the only fighting game I managed to fall in love with.

I tried others as well, but I could never learn them properly and they lost me very early.
MK11 on the other hand ... nearly 100 hours and counting. I will forever play it I think.

I wish I liked the MKs post 9 this much.

They lack the mystique, the incredible Dan Forden soundtracks were replaced with forgettable orchestral hollywood mumbo jumbo and I hate the movie characters cameos. It feels like a big budget mugen. I still buy every MK though.

I've heard nothing but fantastic things about fightcade, yet haven't tried it myself
give it a shot they got all sorts of retro stuff on it besides fighters its basically got everything and a way to communicate with your opponents got a few friends i've made in the few months i've played it been one of my favorite places to game

Street Fighter II? Marvel vs Capcom 2? Naw, son. Take a seat.

Def Jam: Fight for NY (AKI Corporation)

One of my most played PS2 games.

Awesome fighting, epic story, lots of fighters, and a soundtrack that slaps harder than your mama!

that e-sports tag in the first place is such a huge turn off

anyways I'm more like a KOF guy:
Terry, Vanessa, Joe, Geese (when he's there), Viva Mexico, Ralph...

I played the newer fighting games but my heart lies with the 90s and early 00s fighting game scene. I love Midways output. The Mortal Kombats, Bio FREAKS, War Gods. Mace: the Dark Age. Primal Rage will always be a favorite of mine. Love the stop motion digitized look. I did that 90s "edge."

Tekken Tag is easily my all time favorite fighting game. I loved the direction they were going with 4 but sadly I am the minority. 5 was ok but I fell off the ship after that one.

Another reason why I prefer Midway MK than Netherrealm MK is the fact that Netherrealm MK is a mixture of Hollywood shit, army tropes and it's more of a Gore and Torture Porn whereas the early MK's were campy and trippy as fuck.

That turning point was when John Tobias left, at least for me. The story and character designs really suffered. They've never really fully recovered.

Has anyone here managed to be good at fighting games with an original Xbox 360 controller (not the version with the transforming d-pad)? Is it even possible?

idk mortal kombat always rode on its ultraviolence as its main gimmick

I started playing KOF 96 because of Geese, Terry, Mr Big and Krauser and every KOF launched on consoles. except maximum Impact 2 and KOF XII.
best ones I've played were kof99 on DC and KOF XI on PS2

It did, but it didn't take itself seriously. Ot was more of a b movie sort of experience. Like an opponent exploding in MK3 and having 5 torsos and some wacky shit. Nowadays MK is way more torture porn than it was. I preferred the snuff film, B movie kind of experience fused with the fake oriental stuff.

A buddy had the MS-DOS port of MK2 and it was basically a gore fest for us. Serious play wasn't possible with the keyboard and just one controller. We also barely made it to Kintaro or even Shao Kahn. The CPU was insane when it came to cheating.
