Thread: Falcon and the Winter Soldier | Costing a Mechanical Arm and a Wing
I might have rooted for her if she had any clear or interesting motivation at all, big bad wants more power isn't interesting to me, especially if the show does nothing to explain what she'd even do with it. But yeah the char was funny
Perhaps but even one dimensional, she was a more interesting character than anyone else in the show. She's almost MILF waifu material. Almost.

The woke factor is ramping up to the point i think I may discontinue watching the show. I could swallow the occasional eye rolling sermon like when the cops stopped Sam, or when they got rejected for the loan, but last episode? It looks like they are ramping up a decorated Afghanistan vet to be muh white supremacy villian.

As others have mentioned, the Antifa villains murder multiple people but get cringe worthy "it's understandable" scenes. Like WTF am I watching? This is clearly propaganda.
Interesting tidbit about his comic character.

Walker is a hardline Christian, right-wing conservative believing in country before anything else.[9] When Rogers returned, Walker re-established himself as U.S.Agent[12] where he went on to serve as a member and even leader of various Avengers teams.[13]

Did he really reject it though? I think it's more about "taking it back" rather than accepting its history (bad AND good) and moving forward.

There was a challenge in there from Bradley, which Sam didn't buy into about no self respecting black man would pick up the shield. Clearly Sam doesn't agree with that sentiment. Still, in the words of Matt, this is cape shit so I honestly wouldn't get too worked up over it.

Last episode of Falcore and the Wokened Soldier at 12 a.m. Pacific time.

Glad this shit is only 6 episodes long. I don't think I could take anymore if it.

It's seriously up there as one of the worst things from the MCU so far.

Loved the action, it was top notch.

When Sam was talking to the senator on live tv i bet the Senator was like "motherfucker that's not how we work" 🤣🤣🤣

cap put his faith in people, individuals. he didn't set out to apologize on behalf of domestic terrorists or speak about hegemonies of power and control since his was a position of defending what unites us in the worst of times regardless of identity, class or history

sam means well yet struggles with a callow view of the world which befits a kind of postmodern exemplar of digestible dogma insofar as creating pockets of tolerance derived from reconstructing falling stars no matter the costs (the road to hell is paved w / good intentions)

bucky is just sorta lost in his mind, breaking down others to abate his own misery

walker remains the most interesting of the lot, putting in work and struggling to make his way through the world without succumbing to disingenuous moral viewpoints with the intent of communicating righteousness at every opportunity

At ep 4 now. Slightly better than the three ones before.
Still feels like some bad actors LARPing. Bucky only has one expression and it starts grating on me.

I can understand new Cap going mental after his friend is killed. Actually one of the strongest scenes.

Phew. This show is really difficult, imo.
Marvel has lost its steam.

"I'm not going to fight you, Karli!"

"The Flag Smashers aren't terrorists! How do you think people see us?"

Blah blah blah blah

Fuck this show. I'm glad it's over.

This show was absolutely hot fucking garbage.

I'm seriously glad it's over with.

I almost don't even want to watch another Marvel movie after this but Loki actually looks like it'll be fun.

I enjoyed the action and fight scenes.
Couldn't stand Carli and her Antifa gang.
I just pulled out dpad on my phone during their scenes and all the political bullshit.

I didn't catch that being about his skin color, but it's the first in a long line of things that happen to him that progressively point towards some form of racism. Still, that one scene alone felt like it was impossible to discern skin color as the motivator.

Honestly, the fact the guy was apparently struggling for cash and wasn't constantly swarmed by agents, publicists, journalists and other generally greedy parasites was probably the least believable part of the show.

Seriously, the guy is a superhero, part of the Avengers, just helped save the world, and is young, fit, handsome and reasonably charismatic.

Even if he wasn't willing to use it to make money, there would have been a Legion of people out there that would see him as a resource to be exploited.

The is one way of looking at it when it comes to the Isiah Bradley story, but it's pretty clear from the fact that Sam is picking up the shield that he's essentially moving on from that. Versus buying wholly into Bradley's way of thinking.
This actually. I actually felt Sam saying fuck this, I'm gonna Cap anyways, goes to a long way to show "put the stupid shit behind us". Even his little speech on the last episode, yes it was woke, but the message wasn't bad. I mean, as much as this woke shit irritates me, the reality is there is still a ton of people out there that don't want a Black Captain America.

I hope they make a video game with Sam's Captain America, in the same vein as Spider-Man.

Flying around with the falcon wings and throwing the shield at baddies would be a lot of fun.

Black is whatever but why do I want to see a non-super soldier Cap? I mean sure, Marvel is just going to have him do impossible shit anyways because they really don't care but still...

The problem with this series isn't a black Captain America, it's the depiction of the "toxic white male" Walker before. Someone who is a decorated Afghanistan veteran and probably risked his life countless times for his country. Seems these are "problematic people" now to Hollywood.
I mean, just watch Critical Drinker's video, it's all in there.

I am just so tired of this ideological war against a certain demographic that I happen to be part of.

And they wonder that there is a backlash?

I wouldn't even mind the social commentary in the show if it was so parallel to specific real world politics. The X-Men tackled racism without doing something so dumb as making mutants say "X-lives matter!"

You beat me to it. On point as ever with the Pitch Meetings.

I thought the finale was ok as long as you don't think too hard about it. There was a lot of daftness in it for sure, but I didn't find it wholly offensive and the action was good for the most part. Curious to see whether there is a Season 2.

Also, I can't hate a show that gave us the Zemo dancing though. I love the hand-clapping at the end.

It's the same girl who played the secondary "villain" in Solo.

Disney must have a thing for her.

She's the most unconvincing villain there is.
Totally forgot she was in Solo.

Btw your posts here were more fun than the show itself. Reminds me of a poster at gaf around 2019. I made a post mocking Rey in the ST saying her powers were not conventional force but rather the power of becoming super talented at whatever the male near her fails at, and how Luke being the biggest failure at everything activates her to complete her jedi training in one day.. This guy replied "Ouch. It's worse than I thought. Fuck this movie"

I don't know if I can even watch the last episode. The series is just so bad?

I am really bugged that The Falcon, a guy who has 0 super powers or abilities is taking the role of a guy who had super soldier serum and was super powerful, also worthy of using thors hammer. Now Cap is just a regular ass dude that works out but can fly thanks to wakanda making him a suit.

Like even though Stark doesn't have any 'super powers' he's super smart and makes all his own stuff. Falcon doesn't even have that.

Like almost 99% of the villains in the marvel universe are super powered in some way, how is regular ass falcon going to stand a chance against any of them?

Not only that but the woke shit in the show and acting like the flag smashers are actually good guys.......
