Alright, I figured I would make a thread for this and get things rolling so there's a place to discuss this show.

You know the premise.

Falcon aka Sam Wilson and Winter Soldier aka Bucky Barnes team up together to stop some villains, hopping around the world causing untold damage wherever they go.

It's a Disney Plus MCU series and the second one after WandaVision.

Love the image. I must admit I don't think they've done a particularly good job of explaining the why as to Falcon eschewing the shield if I'm honest versus just expected us to accept it was his choice. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Big boots to fill for sure, but when you're already an Avenger. C'mon man.

Still I guess it sets it up.

There's a lot dumb shit in this show starting with the whole bank loan scene.

Episode 3 was definitely better than the past two but still a few cringe worthy moments.

I guess Walker is starting to become a kind of "bad guy" or misguided as we see when he pins that German guy he pins to the wall after he spit on him.

Flag Smashers seem to be going a similar route. I get the impression they're basically Super Serum Antifa and we're eventually supposed to sympathize with them but then the freckly girl leader was okay with blowing people up, to the dismay of her partner.

There's a lot of good-guy-turns-bad or bad-guy-turns-good that it's actually a bit much. Zemo, Super Antifa, daughter of Agent Carter, John Walker, etc.

Now with Super Soldiers happening and these concentration camps and Madripoor it does make you wonder if this is MCU's way of setting up mutants.

I expect he eschewed the shield because there was fan backlash to him being given it over Bucky which means I'm assuming this show is to prove he's worthy of it and by the end he takes it up and they HOPE audiences applaud him doing so.

Just wrapped up episode 4.

Again a little heavy handed with the social commentary and the guys all getting their collective asses kicked by the Wakandan spear women was suitably groanworthy, but at the same time the action was good for the most part and I liked that they stayed true to Zemo and his utter hatred for super soldiers. Also I'm glad that they at least provided some motivation to Walker in terms of the switch, unfortunately they guy just looks like a bit of a douche both with and without the helmet on . On the flipside it was cool to see both him and Bucky show the flagsmashers that super serum alone is no match for some legit combat skills. Preferred it to Episode 3, though a lot of ppl seem to like that one as Madripoor is a fixture in the MCU apparently.

You guys are saints for the heads-up about the social stuff.

Maybe I'll check it out sometime in the future, just to complete Bucky's story (how's that looking, by the way?), but I am not super enthused about it.

Ughh... So it is woke then?
I read its got BLM propaganda in it somewhere.
Don't think I'll bother downloading this shit unless the end of it gets praise.

There was only one "woke" scene with Sister of Sam this episode. I enjoy it despite the sprinklings of eternal victimhood.

Did you see him in the movie overlord? He's also reportedly going to play Snake plissken filling in for his father in a remake directed by the guy you did upgrade and invisible Man

I must admit I tend to avoid anything with JJ Abrams name attached to it these days as a general rule tbh.

He didn't have much to do with it, tbh it feels more like a John Carpenter film of yore. His name on it is like when iron monkey came out as Quentin Tarantino presents iron monkey or some crap

he is a dude who looks better with a beard that's for sure. He had a good turn as the Villain in Goon 2

Are they fighting each other with mouthfuls of spaghetti sauce or something? Granted, I wouldn't know, but I feel like chunks of gore and fluid don't just spontaneously fly out of your mouth if you get hit, lol.

I wouldn't take the Goon series too seriously. Both films largely consist of bulked up Stifler punching the living shit of people on ice with a fair few gags thrown in for good measure. Lazy Sunday afternoon Netflix viewing.

This show is getting fucking retarded.

I wish Billy Butcher would just pop in and kill every one of these fuckers including the redhead bitch.

Gotta love Sam Wilson sympathizing with a murderous terrorist.

Also, two Wakandan women beating a bunch of trained known superheros or soldiers. Apparently being black and a woman is all you need to ensure victory in the Disney-Marvel verse.

Also, fuck it, I'm with Johnny Walker. He's a bit of a hotheaded douche but tear that fucker up with your shield, bro. They killed his bud and it's still more honorable than sympathizing with some redhead Antifa type bitch who kills people. Fuck you, Sam. You're not worthy of that shield either.

Last epIsode was slow af.

Anyways I'm obviously no fan of woke bullshit.

However, the old black guy made perfect sense and was portrayed realistically.

I could totally understand how you'd be bitter and have it out for white people and America after going through what he did.

'just because you hold that shield doesn't mean you are captain america'

dunno what to make of the john walker thing, is there some secret story that should make me not like the guy who committed to the military and by all accounts earned the shield by sacrificing pieces of his soul on the battlefield? he seems to forgo me for we wherever possible ...

admittedly i've not yet watched the most recent episode, maybe he loses his grip and full throttles into villainous territory while spiking on serum

sam and bucky are aight, former trades confidence for arrogance while eschewing authority at every opportunity and the latter beholds himself to his past as an easy out to be miserable to others

So....

He REALLY loses it in the latest episode and they seem to be setting him up as a villain. Now you have Elaine show up who is some mysterious benefactor or whatever. Apparently, she got sick of Jerry and Kramer and George's bullshit and decided to become a career mystery woman on the side of evil.

The woke factor is ramping up to the point i think I may discontinue watching the show. I could swallow the occasional eye rolling sermon like when the cops stopped Sam, or when they got rejected for the loan, but last episode? It looks like they are ramping up a decorated Afghanistan vet to be muh white supremacy villian.

As others have mentioned, the Antifa villains murder multiple people but get cringe worthy "it's understandable" scenes. Like WTF am I watching? This is clearly propaganda.

Valid points.

I mean I doubt they'll literally make him a white supremacist especially considering the reason he lost it was that his best friend, who is black, was murdered.

But yeah I get what you're saying. I guess I've been kind of naive and a lot of what you're saying has opened my eyes a bit.

It sucks because even a very good show like The Boys played into that crap.

The scene where Sam is telling Winter Soldier he needs to "do the work" .... that phrase is 100% BLM /CRT ally garbage ripped straight from cancerous CRT "anti racism" ideology.

It was around there I started to question if I really want to watch this anymore. I mean all shows have some elements of wokeness being pushed nowadays, but this one is the most overt since Star Trek Discovery.

Wow.

Well there's only one episode remaining and I made it this far so I'll finish it.

Loki will hopefully not be cancerous like this. I highly doubt it as it's more fantastical.

So sick of this bullshit.

Yeah the last episode it was over the top WOKE throughout the entire episode. It's gone from the occasional message (like the cops stopping Sam, or the bank loan scene), to WOKE permeating the core of what the show is going to be about.

Well, actions have consequences. I won't be nearly as quick to pick up a Marvel series, until I'm sure this crap isn't in it.

It's amazing. It literally does come off as propaganda. I've never seen so much real world ideology hamfisted into a fun world for children and adult escapism.

Honestly I'm just sick of Marvel. Even minus the woke stuff, just the formula is getting stale and annoying.

Not that DC is much better. In fact, it's much worse. At least I can enjoy Marvel movies but it's like how I enjoy a Big Mac.

I really just want to give up on it but damn, Loki looks fun and I still love Doctor Strange.

My nerd fetish is mainly now focused on Trails, Wh40k, The Expanse and most recently Starfinder.

The Expanse is a very diverse show done right. Everyone on that show, white straight dudes included, are competent but flawed. Well written characters. No "evil white man" BS.

The is one way of looking at it when it comes to the Isiah Bradley story, but it's pretty clear from the fact that Sam is picking up the shield that he's essentially moving on from that. Versus buying wholly into Bradley's way of thinking.

I haven't started Wandavision yet. Is it as bad as Winter Soldier in pushing WOKE?

Not really but it's incredibly gay and one character mentions "her truth". Also there's a main character who is the most boring character ever because they can't depict certain types of characters with actual flaws or anything interesting to their personality, they're just right and amazing and not funny or flawed. All she's got over Brie Larson is she's a slightly better actress.

Bradley lost me when he said nothing has changed.

A bit but not as bad.

The "bad guy" on the regular human side is an old white man.

It has that "women kicking ass" female empowerment to it.

The main villain is Agnes aka Agatha Harkness but she's funny enough very likable imo. I was rooting for her to win tbh but yeah you can see where it's going.

Btw what's that mean with the 'her truth" or "your truth" stuff.

Legit question because I honestly don't know.

the blue anon creep hasn't been too bad here, localized and forgettable in most cases like when bucky had to remind the cops who sam was

i could see something like that happening, rest of the stuff is w/e

I might have rooted for her if she had any clear or interesting motivation at all, big bad wants more power isn't interesting to me, especially if the show does nothing to explain what she'd even do with it. But yeah the char was funny
