Thread: Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon | Official Teaser Trailer | Netflix
Heh. The way you described modern day Hollywood sounds a lot like the worst kind of dystopian setting that someone like Phillip K. Dick could only dream of. And the bit you said about these people having no real world experience and living in a liberal bubble is SPOT ON.

Christ, I've just seen news regarding the new actors on Doctor Who telling old fans to fuck off because the new series will appeal to a more Gen Z audience and feature a lot more liberal centered issues. Like WTF? Isn't Doctor Who supposed to be a multi-generational show that anyone can enjoy? Fuck these people.

You have a link to that?

This movie fucking sucks bro

I'm trying not to jump right to that but I had to watch it a couple times and just can't get past meh. There seems like some cool characters but the story plays like they're reading a script versus going on a mission.

This "I've got a guy for that" mentality the smuggler plays is even more dumb when it's all a bad setup at the end.

Worse of all you're telling us there's a better version of a shitty movie I don't want to watch again? Why would you do that to your own product Zack?

As a Snyder fan it was a massive letdown. I at least expected good visuals and this looked more like a Netflix series than a feature film from a major director. The CGI is inexplicably not up to the standard set by all his previous works. The dialogue is poorly written, which wouldn't be a problem for a film like this had he gotten good performances out of the actors.

Cutting this up into a mass appeal PG-13 version and a directors cut of the full vision was a massive mistake. This was clearly not a story written for young teenagers. The omission of gore makes some of the fight shots look awkward and further fuels the low budget feel. It's like a self-inflicted repetition of what happened to Justice League, except Snyder is accountable for both cuts. Unless he's going back to redo the coloring or something, I really don't have any interest in coming back for a longer version of this.

^On point. I don't think was ever going to be a 10/10 film, but with the longer cut I suspect it might have at least been an enjoyable 7-7.5/10 (like the Zombie film he did prior), but it seems like this desire to go with a Christmas PG13 release was a huge mistake on both his and Netflix part. With so many distractions preying on one's time, expecting people to give the DC a watch based on 'It may be better' is a huge ask.

I think someone else suggested that it might have been better to have looked to release the whole thing as a series/mini-series versus the inferior versions' first approach.

Personally...my view is...forget the initial release of Part 2...I'm going to wait until the DCs are out for the whole thing, then see what the consensus is by people like The Critical Drinker, who are invariably going to watch it because it's their living, to weigh in on whether it's worth it. I thought Justice League DC was decent, so who knows.

I only watched it because a friend put it on. Cliché as can be. It's just a linear plot line of odd events with poor acting and zero imagination from Zack Snyder per usual. He definitely borrowed from other films and executed poorly on every front. I don't know why people give this hack the time of day to be honest with you

Well, I'll say this about Zack Snyder, he understood DC better than that goober Joss Whedon. Zack had an interesting vision for a trilogy of Justice League films but it was sabotaged and now the DCU (previously the DCEU) is just as lame as the current MCU.

Overall though, I'm not a big fan of Snyder. Man of Steel was fun to watch, if you turn your brain off at certain parts (such as Jonathan Kent's death). I guess Jonathan Kent was the real man of steel, you know what I'm sayin'? Still rooted to the ground. Hell, they should have put Kevin Costner in that crappy Twister movie from the 90s so he could go, "Hold on to me nice and tight" to Bill and Jo during the climax.

Then again, he casted Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor because he thought people would like a "new and unexpected" direction for the character, so I think more often than not you're going to be disappointed. And Rebel Moon is the latest. To me, it just looks boring and the special effects somewhat overdone and messy.

Come to think of it, if he really wants to make an R-rated sci-fi movie, he could just do a Heavy Metal movie. Cast a sexy woman with big ballistics and an even bigger gun - essentially a middle-finger to all of Hollywood. That's probably the direction he should have taken with Rebel Moon, not trying to create the next Star Wars. I think it'd be cool, especially if he got Michael Ironside to do voicework.

So this "R-Rated" cut, are we just talking blood and guts full gore everywhere? more curses? explicit nudity and sex scenes? How much longer is this cut supposed to be?

Disappointing that this allegedly is very meh. I had higher hopes. Debating whether I should bother taking the time to watch. At this point I'll probably just wait for the R rated director's cut.

Beyond the violence it's supposed to have like an hour of extra footage, different/alternate takes and what I think is a full blown re-edit. Seemingly the movie he should have released in the first place but, eh, It'll probably still suck. At the end of the day it's just a crappy version of Seven Samurai with incredibly uninspired Chronicles of Riddick-tier art design.

I didn't hate the first part, it just felt incredibly uneven due to the PG13 cut. I probably give it a watch however I'm not holding out much hope of it redeeming itself.
