Doesn't make nearly as much sense as it once did now that we have stuff like the Steam Deck and very capably smart phones that you could use with a controller.
A few years back it rejuvenated my love for gaming.I have 2.
A 1000 I'm holding off on hacking since I'm happy enough with the base experience to use my many, many cartridges and 64 and 32 GB memory cards with, as well as a 2000 I have hacked to sail the high seas and mess around using emulators and fan ports with.
Mario Kart Vita alone is worth the effort quite frankly, although I learnt recently that Bully has been ported to it, so I have to check that out.
Sure, the Steam Deck does somewhat make the Vita redundant now, but it's still a more portable, better made and incredibly slick system with a modding community that is second to none.
Quite honestly it's most likely my favourite system of all time.
I still play on it at regularly, and alongside the 3DS (the smaller n3DS ideally) it's really only grown more essential and enjoyable a gaming device as the years have gone by.
Alongside the Steam Deck, these 3 handhelds are likely all the gaming devices I would need to happily enjoy this hobby for the rest of my life, and if I could only take one to a desert island, it would be the modded Vita I'd pick.
Thanks to the popularity of the modding scene, you can still get Vita 1000 charging cables for a few bucks on amazon.A few years back it rejuvenated my love for gaming.
I couldn't arse myself to switch on the PS4, but the Vita was always lying next to me on the sofa for a quick round of TxK, Hotline Miami or Ollie Ollie.
I should take it out of the closet and get it up and running now.
Maybe it can do that a second time for me.
add/edit: Got it out, but cannot find my loader cable. Them not just using plain USB was a bit dumb, imo.
add/edit2: Found the frigging car cigarette lighter plug loader cable, but not the regular one.. lol
Gladly found my old one. Thanks to the popularity of the modding scene, you can still get Vita 1000 charging cables for a few bucks on amazon.
I've got 2 official ones and 3 third part and all 5 work identically.
Hacking works perfectly fine all the way up to the most recent firmware of 3.74. Sony has also recently destroyed it's testing models (which means it's officially 100% dead now, sadly), so no more updates are likely to be coming to worry about either.Gladly found my old one.
Had the idea, that I could use the Vita for my young son playing old Nintendo games. Let's see if I can get this thing hacked. I am sure my OS version is higher than 3.60
Once more, Vita means life. <3Hacking works perfectly fine all the way up to the most recent firmware of 3.74. Sony has also recently destroyed it's testing models (which means it's officially 100% dead now, sadly), so no more updates are likely to be coming to worry about either.
On the plus side, modders got a hold of several of those testing models, which allowed them to access the debugging menus they couldn't get to previously, so the modding scene is likely going to explode with new ports, patches and in game mods in the coming years.
The big rumour is that it's going to enable full fat ports of Ocarina of Time and the other N64 games that have been fully fan ported to PC recently, likely able to run at full screen resolution and 60fps, awesomely.
Yeah I've got a New 2DS and Vita sitting around collecting dust. Not worth selling them but idk what to do with them.Saw that yesterday, but it somehow didn't urge me to do so.
Still, the Vita is super nice. Should play more on it.
Sooooo glad I didn't give away my Vita then.Hacking works perfectly fine all the way up to the most recent firmware of 3.74. Sony has also recently destroyed it's testing models (which means it's officially 100% dead now, sadly), so no more updates are likely to be coming to worry about either.
