Thread: Xbox Games Showcase & Starfield Direct 2023 Livestream
I really question following up Starfield with this.

Starfield is something you end the conference on, or with the very rare even bigger game reveal ala GTA VI.
But they did though. There's an hour long trailer about the game.

This game is incredible. I love space and the universe so I"m going to be in this game for a long time!

Graphics look really good for the environments. Much more "beautiful" worlds than HFW. The only weakness I see in the graphics is the lame GI probe lighting. Maybe they will have RTGI and RTAO for the PC.

I'm sure Starfield is really fun when you're playing it and invested in it, but it doesn't really look all that good on footage. Still that Gamebryo junk and simple lighting.

How can you say this when all the games look like that except Cyberpunk OD? Even the famed Horizon game has flat lighting.

Yeah Starfield is definitely extremely ambitious and looks more and more like a generational tier game.

Xbox showcase was decent, best part was the Persona 3 Remake for me, but the boy and his grub rock climbing game looked pretty good too.

Starfield looks fantastic quite honestly. I still hate that MS bought Bethesda just to take it off PS5, but it was still the best part of the show.

7/10 overall.

If these were all actually XSS/X exclusives, I'd honestly be tempted to buy one.

But they're not, so I won't.

I disagree. All characters look robotic and weird (which is okay for for a Bethesda game). Clouds are basically skyboxes. A lot of flat surfaces. This game is built for scale. In details it looks janky.

You probably think the characters in CP look the same way? Or Spiderman? The game is 3-4x the size of a regular open world game. Why would they spend all those resources on photoreal characters on a console?

Clouds are basically skyboxes.
It's not a flight simulator. That's OK.

It doesn't. Sorry - you have a bad argument. Inventory items that are junk look better than most games' objects on the ground. There is so much to this game it isn't even worth arguing over. The environments are the best of any game I've seen so far simply because they vary so well.

So much negativity here for what I thought was an outstanding showcase and Starfield is simply amazing. I ended up over at GAF since after about the first 20-30 minutes the worst of the Sony fanboys gave up trying to downplay everything and it was mostly extremely positive after that.

Nice, Starfield has warships and battleship tier starships.

It looks like it will actually be giving Tears of the Kingdom serious competition for that GOTY award. I don't say that lightly either.
Yup. With the depth and scope of the game, it should by default win GOTY. Zelda was more of the first one while Starfield is a totally new franchise. I wish other big AAA studios would take more risk and make something new. I'm sick and tired of rehashed sequels to games.

Yeah I dont get it, this show was great, so many things I'm now looking forward to. Its polar opposite of the Sony show which made me worry that I was disconnected completely with the future of gaming.

Some cool stuff overall in the showcase, though I was a bit thrown by the Starfield Trailer drop halfway through the Xbox part. Anyway pretty pumped about Starfield...got my work cut out for me in terms of going over all that new footage for the OT though. I expect all my Starfield bros are feeling a bit damp in their pants after that.

Wow! Starfield absolutely blew me the fuck away. This game is going to take me months if not years to beat, over a 1000 planets, plus we know the game will probably have countless expansions and story packs as well. I also hope mods will be available for Xbox just like in Skyrim.

I already told my girl that I want the Constellation edition for my birthday, she shrugged, said yes and didn't even flinched at the price. She's getting extra loving tonight lol. Damn I can't wait for this, I haven't been this excited for a game in a long time. Todd just saved Xbox.

Yeah. I've been contemplating that for a while. Page is up now, but no pre-order on that version yet.
