I've actually never seen either film. I should see CK one of these days. Just to better understand it's influence over other media over the past century or so.

When people have called a film "the greatest of all time", there is definitely some merit to seeing why.

Hell, from The Simpsons to FF6, the film has been referenced for multiple generations.

You'd be better off playing Fortnite with me and 0 for an hour and a half 😅

You do watch lot of B&W Japanese films though.
No, you are thinking of @Arkam or somebody else.

I've only seen a couple black-and-white movies: Stalker, Seven Samurai, and Rashomon, mainly because my brother owned a small Criterion collection of classic movies. I recall enjoying Seven Samurai but haven't really watched it a second time.

I've also seen Following and Memento and I know Oppenheimer will have some black-and-white scenes too. I guess it would be more accurate to say I'm not all that terribly interested in watching really old movies (pre-1970s). For example, it'd be hard to sit through the original 1954 Godzilla after having seen the 2014 reboot, but I have watched some of the later Godzilla movies from the '80s and '90s and thought they were very visually interesting in a surreal kind of way.

Anyway, Citizen Kane just looks kind of boring to me as does Detective Pikachu, but I've also never been a fan of inserting cartoony CG animated mascot characters into live-action environments. It always looks uncanny and out-of-place, whereas The Super Mario Bros. Movie is the right direction to go for a video game movie, in my opinion.

Goddamn it you're right ...... definitely need to book that eye test sooner rather than later

Seven Samurai is a film-making masterclass. I watched that film a good couple of dozen times (have the criterion myself). If you ever get the chance you should definitely check out Sanjuro by the same director, even if it is B&W.

That's an insult to the average pedestrian.

Dumpster-tier is more accurate.
