Let's say you got paid $20 for every word you wrote about your favorite gaming franchise. $20 for every single word. You can write about it for as long as wish and earn as much as you wish or can. Which franchise would you choose to write nonstop about?

I would select The Legend of Zelda franchise. Based off of OOT, MM, and TWW I might be able to shoot for a couple billion dollars

Not sure. I rarely go deep into any lore, the development process or something, I kinda just play the games and move on. So it's more about how much I actually remember about a game. I think I could write a lot about Doom or Quake in general, Witcher series as well just because the amount of stories was insane.

I heard that @Xaero Gravity loves Witcher and its lore so much that he actually wears his Geralt medallions to bars and stuff over his Eevee shirt when he's trying to pick up men

Ys, based on Mont Saint-Michel, from the old gallic tribe Is. City of Paris is named after that tribe parisii.

LOL, I once wrote a 10-page document about the Zelda-Dual Timeline theory at a time where the split-timeline was NOT acknowledged by the general public. I wanted it to send as a letter to Shigeru Miyamoto and ask him to confirm or unconfirm my theory. Yeah, I was rather idealistic as a teenager lol :D

Anyway, definitely The Legend of Zelda. Between factual knowledge and elaborate speculation, I'd never stop writing.

Fucking geek, plus it's three timelines. You got it wrong.

Grand Theft Auto.

Mostly the 3D universe games. It's fun to view some of the other Rockstar games as being set within the same fictional USA, depending on the console generation at the time. For example, Manhunt, Bully, and Manhunt 2 at the tail-end of the six 3D universe GTA games (Vice City Stories, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, GTA Advance, Grand Theft Auto III).

For the HD universe games, the chronological order goes Red Dead Redemption II, Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV (the two DLC episodes run concurrent to Niko's story), GTA: Chinatown Wars, and GTA V.

Grand Theft Auto: London 1961/1969, Grand Theft Auto, and GTA 2 comprise the 2D universe games. All three universes form a multiverse. GTA VI will probably be the start of a new universe or the last entry in the HD universe since we have yet to see a new rendition of Vice City.

Lore wise? Probably Metal Gear, I love every stupid little soap opera twist. If the internet reception was anything to go by, I feel like I am in the minority of enjoying the MG story more as the games go on. People thought 4, the portable games, and 5 were the worst but those are my favorites.

If it was gameplay, probably not Metal Gear. I'm above avg at the games but not a top player, there's quite a lot of MG tricks and skills that I've never bothered with.

To pick a franchise where I am most familiar with gameplay mechanics, games where I can babble on and on about invuln frames or combos or cutting off tails, I would have to go with:

Guilty Gear (fighting genre), Monster Hunter (action-adventure) or Dodonpachi (shmup genre), or maybe some puzzle franchise like Puyo Puyo or Magical Drop. Some other one-offs would be Minecraft, Mount& Blade, Total Annihilation, Baldur's Gate 2, Super Mario 3 (but not Mario overall), and Gunz The Duel, based on the same criteria of many hours + many high level skills learned.

I've sunken a lot of time not only playing those games but also watching video clips, learning from articles or blog posts, and practicing various "high level moves" (lol). Watching tournaments / live events, too. And actually trying to "learn" the game at a higher skill level. Watching so-called pro players and imitating their skills is a pretty extreme level of dedication to a franchise, in my opinion.

You know it's definitely xenogears that's the one I've looked into the most since it's themes intrigued me quite a bit its one of the few games I've watched lore videos of.

I could write a lot about the Soulsborne games, having beaten all of them multiple times.

I couldn't tell you what the story was in any of them, though.

Resident Evil is my first pick. I've played most of them, and was into the story stuff in the classic era.

I could also do Souls better than most, but for some reason it wasn't what came to mind.

Resident Evil. I've played basically everything, including weird spin offs, and read and watched everything Resi except for the new Netflix series, because it's shit that bears no resemblance to the sauce material.

Up until Andromeda my knowledge of Mass Effect could also be described as encyclopedic, but after 3 I actively try not to think about the franchise anymore. I've probably forgotten more about it than most fans of the ganes know, quite frankly.
