As a long time Ex-Gaf user, I am wondering where you all are getting your news from?

I used to get them from Gaf, but during the Activision-Microsoft acquisition time they've went from people actually talking about gaming to post 200 threads a day on how to shit on Microsoft and not talking about gaming anymore.

Reddit isn't rolling with big news either, or Im just too lazy to find the interesting ones.

I love this forum, but sadly we aren't the most active in the world.

Most gaming sites are cancerous woke sites where they focus more on wokeness than the gameplay, like Era.

So, where do you get your gaming news?

I follow a few gaming news channels on YouTube and occasionally dip into 4Chan's /v, which generally has all news ending up getting discussed, but is of course full of wankers.

X.com. Follow the right people/lists and you can filter your feed specifically for gaming news.

D-Pad is the only site with gaming news that I visit regularly.

I follow a few accounts on Twitter and Youtube (Grummz, AI and Games, Matt Piscatella, etc), though those don't rise up to my feed through the algorithm too often and I go to them for their opinion and/or entertainment rather than news.

If I get curios about something/someone for whatever reason I just start digging with a simple internet search. Most of the time that ends with a visit to two or three websites like GamesIndustry.biz, IGN and the like, sometimes I go into full private investigator mode and spend hours sifting through material wherever I can find it.

I want D-PAD to be my source for gaming news, but there's a lot that doesn't get posted here. Generally, this place seems a little less gaming focused. Plenty of gaming news that gets posted and doesn't get a lot of interest.

I've been wondering this as well. D-Pad is my primary source but I'd like to find other sources as well. Unfortunately, I think that means I need to follow accounts on X and I refuse to make my own account there. I wish there was a centralized website or two that consolidated news. Gamespot and IGN used to fulfill those roles but can't really stand those sites now.

I spent over a decade at CompuServe gathering and reposting news for one of the video game forums, if I thought there was an interest for something like that here I'd consider contributing to what others are already doing.

Reposting news is a very low effort endeavor that can easily get weighed down by factors like sourcing priority and quality vs quantity. My passion for this medium is at the polar opposite end of the spectrum compared to 30 years ago, it's become rather repulsive, and I could see an uptick in such news-related threads grating some nerves here unless a few details are discussed but maybe that's just me.

Here and a couple of other niche forums. Also YouTube.

Anything worth paying attention to will likely filter up and, if not, I've got something awesome to discover down the road.

I know it's not popular to say around here, but I read Gaf, REE as well as here, of course, and various YT sources. I don't have any difficulty ignoring voices that I find silly, and there's plenty of good posts amidst the nonsense in my view, even on boards that skew more "woke", ha.

Gematsu, NintendoEverything, Twitter.

Used to go to NintendoLife/PushSquare/PureXbox, but they started getting very "Gamers Are Dead" -- which was fine because we had good discussions in the comments section. They started posting inflammatory editorials -- GG strawmen, trans, Ukraine war, etc., -- and eventually locking comment sections on every article someone might have an opinion they don't like. I took a ban in a Sonic article saying "Dr. Robotnik sounded like a Russian name so they should probably not allow comments".

Time Extension is dope though.

GAF gaming has had such a 'Teh Console Warz' vibe for a while now it's work to find goodies. I'm like, sorry your consoles both suck lol.

Now I'm pretty sure it's D-Pad.life brain drain.

D-Pad is my only source. Would be great if all of us, who have some news post it here as well.

When a new trailer on YouTube pops up for me and isn't here, I try to post it. (Even though I'm afraid it's not gonna get any replies lol but that's just retarded)

We all have to contribute to get this here running.

That's why people like @Vyse are so important and I really appreciate the effort.

Here naturally, I still read GAF I just need to remember NOT to read the posts, there is generally nothing of value outside of more console wars, Xbox sucks, Nintendo is for little kids etc. I also look at Bing gaming, they used to give rewards for reading it daily now they don't but I still check it out of habit. They have articles for a lot of different gaming sites.

The odd thing posted by whomever in whatever discord server or when youtube decides to burp up something from the ass end of the internet.

Gematsu and Time Extension pretty much cover it.

Man, but really none of it compares to getting a new issue of EGM, PSM, and OPM in the mail and reading the articles, cover stories, reader mail and back pages where Chris Slate, Bill Donohue and the rest of the editorial team brought the banter, laughs and opinions. Kids these days don't know the joy of print, monthly demo discs, Pizza Hut pizza and Mountain Dew Game Fuel (when Master Chief still wore his helmet).

Mostly here on D-Pad and on Youtube. On occasion I'll check out gaming related news on a forum like KiwiFarms, though it's more likely to be Clown Word material.

Those were the times. Back in the days there were so many good magazines. Went with my father to the "Lotterie"/"Kiosk" and while he bought cigarettes and played the lottery I was checking all the different mags. From pc games, Game Star, n-zone, Bravo screenfun, maniac, and all the other mags. Especially the pc mags had always a demo cd, sometimes with full games. I remember playing a game called "Die Völker" that I got with one of the mags I bought.

It was magical.
