Thread: Whatever happened to Crysis 4?

Crysis 4 was announced a couple years ago and sounds like it will be self-published. Maybe an official reveal isn't too far off. Anyway, I think it will be interesting to see, especially given how much time has passed since Crysis 3 was released. We need something other than PC gamers creaming themselves over Unreal Engine 5 and nanite. It's time they put CryEngine 6 on the map.

The game is still early in development, unfortunately. And with how long games take to make these days I'm betting we won't see anything until 2026.

Apparently according to Crytek, they're still working on it. So I guess we'll see. If the game never comes out, at least Crysis 1 and Warhead are still masterpieces, and even Crysis 2 and 3 are still pretty good. If only the Remastered versions of those games can release on GOG.

There working on putting a black wheel chair bound trans drag queen in the game.

Given this is a Crysis game, being in a wheel chair could actually be pretty awesome. You would never need to commandeer wheels. You could have some shapeshifting technology that lets you pass for the enemy. The possibilities for fun with this are limitless!

But I'm going to be totally disappointed in this game if the plants and trees can't be mowed down with a machine gun and the buildings aren't destructible from grenades, rockets, and tanks. In how many ways will Crysis 4 be a step down from the original games??

Crysis 1 is so stupidly far ahead of 2 and 3 it isn't even funny. Their decision to completely rework the story between 1 and 2 was so mindbogglingly stupid. They bridged the story of 1 and 2 in a damn comic book that nobody read so no one had any idea what happened on the island, what happened to Prophet, Psycho, Nomad. Man, what a weird game 2 is. The gameplay is at least decent.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of Crysis 2's plot. I suppose the reason why they changed so much was so console games wouldn't be lost. Was happy that Crysis 3 at least brought back Prophet properly as well as Psycho.

Crysis 1 and Warhead are still the peak, though. I play them very regularly.

Presumably they're waiting for PC hardware performance to advance a few years so something can run it.

That's a good point about more realistic and dynamic physics. I'd be interested to see it as well.

To this day, I still wonder about that island and those people... and whether they sorted out their little alien invasion or not. I did start Crysis 2 and it just wasn't my thing. I came in with a totally different set of expectations.

Well, Crysis 3 does end with Prophet living on Lingshan Island, so seems like they solved the problem. But yeah, Crysis 2 really just went in its own direction.
