Think back, and pinpoint the game that drew you in nearly 100% or close to it when you played. The game that you could say with confidence that you were extremely invested in and loved most if not every bit of it

My choice is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch. And to go back one game further, the game that impressed me as such was…my first completed playthrough of Resident Evil, the REmake HD version on Xbox 360

Nowadays, it'd be yakuza 0
Before that, it was the new Deltarune chapter that released a couple months ago
Both of these games (especially yakuza) have been crafted so well with great gameplay, story and music (ooooh, the music in Deltarune chapter 2 was fucking phenomental) i couldn't stop playing once i got my hands on them.

Yakuza 0 one of the best games of the generation imo

The Zero Escape series 1-3 and Assassin's Creed Origins were my most recents. Loved every second with those games.

Completely captivated? Portal 2. Maybe Skyrim, to a lesser degree.

If you mean 'captivated' in the sense of 'caused mysterious loss of many tens of hours of free time', then Factorio.
Stormworks Build&Rescue also made a spirited attempt, but was foiled by my inadequate hardware.

Umm that's a good question. Probably Red Dead Redemption 2 & The Witcher 3. Honorable mention to Mass Effect 1&2, those two games captivated my imagination and my love for gaming big time.

The closest thing to it is probably Final Fantasy XI.

Red Dead Redemption 2 qualifies if I'm being a little more liberal. Those characters, that story and that world was so good that it was easy to ignore minor annoyances and plow through it.

The last game that captivated me all the way way Shenmue 1. I only played it about a year ago but that was a nice game that really drew me in with the 1980's Japan atmosphere. I would have said FIre Emblem Three Houses but I think after the third playthrough and the DLC I was getting a bit tired of the game while finishing up the support conversations.

Most recently? Astalon for the PS4. It had such a solid mix of 8 bit visuals and sound but with level design, enemies and enough of a story and unlockables that I couldn't put it down during my free time.

Before that? Dragon Quest 11, easily.

I loved Astalon. Such a lovely game. It captured the oldschoolfeeling so good. And it played really well. Only thing that was bugging me a bit were the unlockable additional characters that you absolutely don't need. I would love it even more if they had a little bit more impact. Regret it though to not have bought a physical copy when it was on LRG.

They did a survey on Twitter awhile ago for astalon 2. Hope they gonna release it.

@HariSeldon thanks. Maybe I'll play it in the near future. :)

Despite its problems, Elden Ring kept me there until the end without any thoughts of stopping to play something else. These days games rarely keep me for hundreds of hours without throwing any other game in at some point.

Before that it wid have been RE3Remake. Another flawed one, but it's a lot shorter.

Thank you for the reminder to pick up Yakuza 0 again Dpad, I only played the first hour.
