Thread: What game did you buy |OT| You might even play it
Official Thread
So my Evercade is running almost 24-7, and my daughter really wants to play something that isn't too hard.

Looked a bit on the games, and found out Sunsoft Collection 2 seems to have somewhat easy side scrolling games she might be able to enjoy.

I also ended up sneaking the Duke Nukem Col 1 in the cart, whoopsie.

So what is the major selling point for the Evercade? I see a retro console with retro games you can buy legally. Why would I prefer this over emulated games output to the TV?

Getting the nostalgic retro feeling on newer hardware.

It's nice to support the developers, and there's just something putting cartridges into a machine, just plug and play the oldschool way.

Also it's the size of a tiny router and weights less than an Xbox controller so easy to carry around.

Why play early access in a p2w MMO :p

Nah. It's not so bad actually. According to Korean players with hundreds of hours logged. You only really need to buy battle passes to be competitive with PvP scenarios. Evan IF you spend hundreds on a build, the only meaningful PvP battles are large scale sieges. So no matter what gear you have , you'll never survive a Zerg.

Sunsoft collection was sadly a little too difficult for the daughter, but she will eventually get detoxed from the woke nonsense with Duke to the right when she gets older.

Learn what a real man is like.

I've bought a few bits lately.

Marvel Fighting Collection
Lost Eidolons
The Sinking City
Soul Vars
Vampire Survivors
Space Marine 2
WindJammers
Under Night in Birth latest version
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit remaster

I have been been playing Need for speed, Vampire Survivors and WindJammers. And also started up on Space Marine.

@regawdless Have you tried Inertial Drift as yet? I feel like I caught glimpse of this game many years ago when it was a one car one track concept.

Yes I played a few rounds, there are different kinds of races and there's a campaign with characters, different tracks and challenges. Regarding having other cars on the track, I only had a 1v1 race yet against an opponent.

The game is some good arcade fun, with some depth to it because different cars control widely differently, the drifting mechanics change completely, which is interesting.

Nice! Thanks for that. I'll pick this one up. The 2 stick control seems like it will be interesting. I love a good arcade racer!

I bought it for dirt cheap, was definitely worth it. It's a feel good game for me. And nailing the drifts is satisfying.

Just pre ordered Metaphor Refantazio. The demo has me sold. I don't think I'll enjoy it as much as P3/4/5 but it still looks like it will be great fun.

Bought Akimbot on Steam

What a fucking technical mess. Unreal Engine shader compilation and traversal stutters. Like crazy, all the time. Unplayable shit. Look at the frame graph, micro freezes every few seconds.

I'm considering getting Expeditions: A Mud Runner Game. Anyone play this? It's juts exploration and 4X4 off roading with light base building and crews to augment your exploration. Maps include Arizona, Colorado and the Carpathian Mountains.

Get Snowrunner, it is a much better game.

I know of Snowrunner, I don't want to play transport overlander.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage
Sale on Steam

Bought it first on Epic because it was cheaper but refunded it because it didn't detect that I had an HDR screen and didn't work with my Dualsense controller. Bought on Steam, both issues solved, all working.

Game is a ton of fun with a lot of gore, visceral combat, nice visuals, cool style and overall just a good time. People on Steam love it, has like 97% positive reviews. And it has some nice RT reflections that look awesome in this setting. At its core, it's Doom 2016 combat. Yes.

But it has issues, still:
- Unreal Engine traversal stutter, especially strong when RT is enabled. Typical UE4 behavior.
- photo mode is unusable for me because it completely fucks up the colors when entering it, something with the HDR isn't working correctly.
- no Dualsense button layout, so annoying that such a simple thing isn't implemented. Having the option for different prompts is easily done.

Hope they'll be able to improve the performance but I'm not hopeful. Still enjoying the game, it's crazy fun.

Looks like a Ratchet and Clank ripoff from this clip.

It's not at all, though. It's basically a Doom 2016 style arena shooter, but melee focused with more mobility because you're on a hoverboard. With abilities and upgrades, it's more of a character action game than RC.

I'd say it's a mix of Doom 2016, DmC and Jet Set Radio, with a cute art style while filled with gore and some cursing.

Looks a lot like R&C, even the buy screen looks like it. Sounds interesting though. Incidentally, I bought an OLED SteamDeck. Any recommendations for it? Been thinking about Elden Ringing it or maybe GTAV.

Depends on your use case tbh. I'd say it's not the optimal way to play huge epic games, at least it wouldn't be the way I'd chose.

Feels more like a great indie machine to me.
