I'll mention Tamsoft for making simple, fun, accessible, unpretentious games...that also tend to have sexy babes in various states of undress in them

If we're allowed to include defunct developers, I'm absolutely suggesting Quintet. My most unsung heroes of the 16-bit era.

Actraiser 1 & 2

Soul Blazer/Illusion of Gaia/Terranigma (one of my favorite SNES series)

They also made the very underappreciated SNES RPG Robotrek and supported development of The Granstream Saga and Shenmue before going dormant in 2002.

Absolutely agree made some of the finest games ever released and maybe the best arpgs (on the system) with illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. Wonder what happened to them. + What a nice mention as the second post. 🫡

I would mention sabotage games even though they're doing indie games (sea of stars and the messenger) both games are excellent.

Not necessarily a developer but THQ Nordic for me. I love their output.

I'd also say Invader Studios, the Italian team who have made the two Daymare games. The first Daymare is largely a mess. The 2nd one though, that game is really impressive by any standard. It's a night and day difference from the first.

Another dormant studio that put out a ton of bangers: Treasure. Much like Quintet, they were genre specialists who made amazing shoot-em-ups & beat-em-ups.

Gunstar Heroes

Guardian Heroes

Mischief Makers

Radiant Silvergun

Bangai-O

Sin and Punishment

Ikaruga

They're down to about 10 employees and haven't released a new game since 2014, but I'm 100% in on whatever they're working on.

Sunsoft, too.

Did you try out the new Ufouria? Highly recommended if you like the old NES style

No, but thanks for the reminder. That was one of the last games I bought off the WiiU virtual console.

Is this new one a remaster or a completely new game?
