Thread: Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection announced for PS5 & PC
Kinda bummed it's only 4 and LL and not including the trilogy. Would have love to replay all the games on PC again like Halo MCC, but only 4 and LL is going to be a pass for me. I guess I can always replay all the games on PS5
Yeah, this. 4 was way too long for its own good, the open world sections were boring as were the long in the tooth flashback sequences that already sucked back in U3. Also, most of the scripted sequences I found so thrilling back in U2 (like the train sequence) have now lost their luster because they've been a staple in the series now across 4 games. Gimme Uncharted 1-3 remasters or not interested, and I say that as a long time fan of the series. It's time for a reboot or a rest, not sure which. There's a ton going for the series -- awesome locales, great gunplay, endearing characters, but the series is right on the cusp of becoming stale.

I would sort of kind of get the meltdown if it were them announcing PS5 games coming to PC, but it's not... it's just PS4 games. They're already working on upgrading them for PS5 (usually as a free upgrade), so they might as well take the opportunity to bring them to PC and score a few hundred thousand ~ million more sales. It's hard to imagine that last-gen PlayStation games going to PC is going to hurt PS5 adoption. I imagine the number of people buying PS5s are doing so just for the ability to play PS4 games a bit of a higher resolution and a better frame rate. They want a PS5 for the PS5 exclusives for the most part and surely Sony knows that.

TBF I believe (just like XBOX) the days of Day 1 PC releases WILL happen, sooner rather than later. This is just a classic case of slowly adapting the market to your plan.

That been said exclusives are no longer the draw they once were and more than that they are just too expensive to produce to ignore an important secondary source of revenue. The advantage of console is both the price and the fact everything "just works". That's reason enough for many people. If your willing to put the work and money in, then PC is the best place to play everything, as it should be. But I'd never under value convenience. People lead busy lives and have little free time.

Yeah, you may end up being right, but I don't see it for PS5 at least.

I think it makes sense for Sony to wait a generation before porting their biggest games over. Focusing on a single platform for the initial development of the game almost certainly allows them to deliver a better product than if they went multi-plat from the start. Upgrading the game for the next platform provides a good excuse to go back to it and also do a PC version and by waiting 4 ~ 7 years or so from the initial release, they also ensure that the PC version works well on a much wider range of hardware, which means a wider potential audience.

As a primarily PC gamer, I certainly appreciate Microsoft's approach more, but I think Sony's makes the most sense.

Fair enough honestly. I loved LL a lot

I liked LL more than 4 because it didn't have all of the obnoxious bloat 4 did and the awful writing that's just there to force more drama between the lead heroes, much of which was already tread in past games.

Don't rush it.

Apparently Sony is removing multiplayer from both PC and PS5 versions. #4ThePlayers

That would be a real shame but I'd still rather something than nothing tbh. I'm not really a multiplayer gamer but I would have dabbled in it.

Surely they would be upfront if that was the case though?

People played the multiplayer? Huh, go figure. (Was there even MP in the latest one? I don't recall.)

They'll be upfront about it by not including a Multiplayer reference on the store page. Lol

Yes and it was glorious. My most played PS4 game btw because of the multiplayer. Nice 60fps on Pro, great fluid combat, fun modes, cool abilities.

But I don't know if enough PC players would be into it as it's very much been designed and balanced for gamepad controls.

Three graphical modes will be available to pick from. Fidelity Mode offers 4K visuals with a "30fps target framerate". Performance Mode "targets 60fps". Performance+ Mode "targets 120fps at a 1080p resolution".

Standard PS5 features will also be on offer, such as 3D Audio, fine-tuned rumble and resistance for the DualSense controller, and improved load times.

Finally, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection owners in the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand will get a voucher for an Uncharted movie ticket.

Given the performance increase from a PS4 Pro to a PS5. Is 4k 30fps from 1440p 30fps rather a small increase? Unless there's more graphical effects been added.

Plus the steam page could do with a proof reader as it dosnt read very well (repetition etc). That added with the fact it looks like the multiplayer is missing...

I'm the biggest ND fan, but I'm worried, l admit it.

So is PS5 getting a 60fps mode? Because I gave up my 2nd playthrough since the 30fps PS4 version gave me a headache.

Graphics

First off, graphic updates. Here's a look at the options players can select from:

  • Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
  • Performance Mode – Performance Mode targets a 60 FPS frame rate.
  • Performance+ Mode – If you're all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don't mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps* at a 1080p resolution.

Three modes here:
- quality = fixed 3840x2160 at 30fps
- performance = 2560x1440 at 60fps. So basically the PS4 Pro version at double the framerate
- performance plus = 1080p targeting 120fps with some drops

General improvements:
- improved LoD and less pop in
- slightly improved shadows and reflections
- significantly "punchier" colors, improved contrast
- less camera rotation blur
- and of course improved loading times
