Thread: UEFA EURO 2024 |OT| DEUTSCHLAND
So many of Portugals plays are incredibly frustrating to watch. They're so close to come through, so close to make a good play but it's always a tiny mistake that fucks everything up.

Just took a look at the game stats.

Wtf is happening with Croatia....

done. too old. Today was really really horrible. Felt like they just refuse to play. They played good for 10 minutes and then after 2:1 they stopped playing again and deserved the 2:2. What a shitshow. It was disgusting to watch

Interesting game from Germany. Generally good, some nice plays but it was way more work than against Scotland. Leroy Sane keeps disappointing me, last game was incredibly bad, this one was better but still not good.

yeah Sane is really underwhelming. Totally uninspiring and looks like he doesn't want to play lol. I haven't watched Munich (and Bundesliga in general) in a while so I don't know if he's better there. But Musiala is incredible imho. I didn't know he plays that well.

Musiala is really damn good. And Sane is super frustrating to watch. When he's on fire, he's incredible. But then he has this stretches where it feels like 5% are missing to make that dribbling, to place that shot, to make that pass but he always fails.

Is there a reason England is so loyal to Southgate?

Semi final of a world cup, final of a euros 🤷‍♂️

Would be stupid to cut ties given how much he's improved the feeling around the national team.

He is too much of a pragmatist though, with the wealth of talent available to him anything less than bringing the trophy home is likely to see him unemployed.

Not sure why Gary, Rio and Micah are getting so emotional during the analysis lol

Not like we haven't seen this from Southgate's England time and time again

Players already on their arse like they'd been knocked out of the tournament lol

How the fuck were we ever favourites to win this thing 😂

Which is weird because we've looked much more cohesive in both previous tournaments and qualifying. We're stinking the place out currently lol

To be fair.....England is the most overrated country in the world by a very large margin. Realistically your individual talent is well beyond the USA but history has shown you're teamwork is about as good as USA and not much else.

I know there's a lot of English folks that would straight up take offense to that but your results continue to speak for themselves. It's honestly easier to be a USA fan than England, we may suck but we suck accordingly. England just loves to tear at the heartstrings of their diehards.

Fuming at this accusation 😤😤

I think if we had a manager who was more willing to play a more aggressive pressing system with reliance on overlapping full backs and better rotational attacking movement we could easily be on the level of France. The core of talent is as rich as it has ever been, we're just playing to not lose rather than to win.

Teams will of course be more savvy to our approach now too, but we're suffocating from being so pragmatic and ensuring to not leave so many players in the opposition half.

We can have Rice as the sitter and Stones can drive into midfield for support, we certainly don't need a double pivot, I'd remove Trent from the centre as well.

We can utilise Foden better and use him and Bellingham as two 8s rather than forcing him out on the left flank.

If we're going to rigidly stick to this system, I'd rather see Eze or Gordon start as they're more traditional wingers rather than putting square pegs in round holes with Foden as the left sided winger.

We have to be braver from a player and tactical perspective. The country has been more behind this England team to succeed than any team (even our "golden generation") for like 30 years. We should be aiming to better our result from the previous Euros and win the damn thing.

I really knew this response was coming and again I'll flatly state England has far superior talent to USA but the reality is your performance is well below what your standard should be. USA plays right at it's talent level consistently.

Even the announcers were picking the shit out of England at the end of that last game with the Denmark coach rallying his players and the English players wandering about with no clue. Great talent but zero cohesion on gameplan. Not sure if it's the coach or English player mentality but you seem to be your own worse enemies.

I can't think of any country that consistently underperforms more than England and I say this because I'm always rooting for you and watching the failure!

We're used to the pain I'm afraid, but you're right. The team have underperformed in these opening fixtures, the problems started with the friendly against Iceland.

My "fuming" response was mostly tongue in cheek haha. I do think we're capable of much more, it's just not being unlocked.

I doubt Southgate's the guy to do it. If he gets sacked he probably won't sniff a position at any of the top European clubs. He's a bum.

You can imagine the fear in my heart as a Man Utd fan when there were rumours linking him to us. I don't really think the guy who took Boro to the Championship is the guy for either England or Utd.
