I've never known so many good game go out in round 1. God of War (2018), Sekiro, Bioshock: Infinite, Kingdom Hearts 2, The Evil Within. I may be asking some of you to hand in your gamer cards for destruction![]()

There have been some really bad matchups. Like a quarter of them have been blowouts. Bad RNG with the matchups. But BG3 lost early, and there will probably be some interesting matchups midway and towards the end since all the weird pairings are taking place now. Worst part about this competition is probably the dumb randomized matchups, they should be generated by genre and genres that are similar to one another. Example would be action-adventure and rpgs competing against one another because they have very common ground with a vast adventure taking place with each. Or pair arcade games with sports games where the objective is to win, break records, high scores, etc.I think you should cancel the whole thing.

@Hostile_18 you better not be putting porn over these matchups boy. Super Mario Sunshine and The Wind Waker have already been defeated early. We will pour a bucket of chili on your head if things get any worse
The matchups are basically Hostile's picks against a Nintendo or less popular game.
There's no way these were random matchups though.
Oblivion vs Minecraft
Resident Evil 4 vs Virtua Fighter 4
Doom 3 vs Resident Evil (2002)
Journey vs Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Doom 3 vs Resident Evil (2002)? Both graphically impressive, challenging, console platform exclusive (Xbox vs GameCube) survival horror titles that released in the same console generation. Doom 3 was also a reboot, or new first entry point, in the series, so not that random to go up against Resident Evil remake. With the total of 158 games, the odds that the two would meet in the first round are pretty slim. What correlation do any of those games have with each other that would suggest its not random?

That divide makes it more interesting, don't you think, rather than a rudimentary matchup like Silent Hill vs Resident Evil?I don't see it. Other than being horror games they are completely different. One is western highly advanced PC FPS game. Another is Japanese old school 2D game for consoles.

Doom 3 was a big deal on Xbox, despite the shift to slower-paced gameplay that disappointed some older Doom fans, and Resident Evil remake was very much well-received on GameCube (including praise for its graphics). And you know Doom 3 wasn't completely in first person during cutscenes and you encounter zombies as well. You had to switch between using your flashlight and your gun on Xbox. Minor inconveniences in both games that added to the tension.
Results updated. The Elder Scrolls and Resident Evil series defeating everything in their paths.
You've listed Virtua Fighter 4 as having progressed and TTYD still shows as not having been knocked out either.
How do we vote for this? Is it just the hostile takeoff threads or?
