Thread: The Flashed Face Distortion Effect
This is a really specific requirement for the brain.

Not only is a new face unnaturally popping up where the old one was, but you are seeing it in your periphery.
 
Me and my friends used to do this when we were teens. We would dim the room to a very low light and just stare at each other's faces until it starts to deform. Shit was creepy.

Pretty cool. What is notable is that in the images they've aligned all the eyes to the exact same position, so albeit the images are changing you have these constants. I wonder if that might factor into it.

Me and my friends used to play Pokémon and Halo when we were teens. I guess your friends were more of the creative type, more in touch with their feelings.
