Thread: The Duskbloods (Bloodborne 2) FROM Software coming to Switch 2 exclusively in 2026
"Here's that delicious chocolate cake you were craving. Oh, by the way, do note that it's made of human shit."

I imagine that's what a lot of people are thinking. I'm still optimistic I'll like it because Souls does need to evolve anyhow. We can't keep playing the same thing for the next 10 years.

Only good thing is, 1, they have a multiplayer game coming out soon so we can see how amazing a fromsoft multi game is, 2, it's fromsoft, they've earned some leeway

I'm really curious what the gameloop is going to be.

If it's mostly PvP, my interest will fade a bit. PvP against invaders is something I enjoy in Souls game but a Souls game that predominantly revolves around it, I dunno. That being said, it's 8 player so I could be open to it. I mostly just want to see the extent of the PvE aspect and what the world is like. If there's some kind of standard Souls loop but with 8 player coop, hell yea count me in, that would be incredible.

Honesty, PVPVE focused souls isn't what I'd ideally want, but it's not far off how I play these games anyway. I love fighting invaders, I always go back after I've killed a boss and let myself get summoned into others games to help them out, and I usually summon others in when I'm revisiting areas or grinding just for the fun of co-op.

If it's entirely optional, then great. If it's a focus, well it'll be a bit disappointing to lose the sense of loneliness and dread the games usually have, but it'll still be a blast.

It's gone from a 10/10 excitement level to an 8/10, potentially 9/10 depending on how it's implemented.

Yeah this gives me weird vibes, ignoring that it is Switch so obviously lower fidelity what I saw looked kind of rough/unfinished/rushed/cheap. Then I heard it was focusing on multiplayer I kind of checked out. Plus a few things that look kind of out of place.

Also between this and Nightreign it sounds like FROM is kind of selling out now that they are at the peak of their popularity, but these low effort online cash grabs are only going to damage their reputation for quality hand crafted experiences.

"Online focused" doesn't mean online only, that's the primary sticking point for me. I'd like if they could add some clarity. Monster Hunter is also an online focused PvE but you can still solo.

I feel like this would have been clarified by now if that was the case. It's been a few days, it was arguably the biggest announcement of the show and the gaming community has been talking about it nonstop.

I love FromSoft and Souls games, but this one just looks kind of weird to me.

Between this and the Elden Ring spinoff, multiplayer fans are in for some fun times. For me, though, multiplayer has never been what drew me to these games, so I'm a bit disappointed.

People calling this Bloodborne 2.....why? Blood having importance as a game concept/theme isn't owned by Bloodborne, and this sounds more like vampires than the Beast approach of Elden Ring.

Looks like it has more in common with Elden Ring from the overworld, which apparently will change from zone to zone since there is no fixed time period or location.

From what Miyazaki has said about this game makes it sound more like FromSoftware Monster Hunter. Sounds like you're playing as premade characters as well.

Idk I don't have enough interest in this to play it myself. Think I'll just watch some mook play it on youtube.

"Iwata Asks" with Miyazaki:

Lots of good info in there. The game sounds cool! Thing is, I'm not planning on paying for online so it's only worth it if I can play PvE offline.

Also I don't know how FROM is supposed to make games. Customers have demanded that FROM does something new, something that isn't just more Souls. Then they make an online-focused character action game with high mobility and folks are shrieking.

Somehow against all decency and reason, a group of Souls fans love Dark Souls 2. Why? They will all tell you: because of the multiplayer. We got a string of single-player focused games: Sekiro, Elden Ring, and Armored Core 6. Now they wanna dip back into the online multiplayer scene again.

After the salt dies down, more people will fondly remember back to multiplayer glories in Dark Souls and then think to themselves "it does kinda look fun, and I do miss PvP from back in the day."

A year after launch, it'll have its devoted fans who swear by it.

I'll never understand DS2 hate, and I never bother with MP in these games.

I hope Duskbloods is good, but the gothic/steampunk-ish genre doesn't interest me and FromSoft's NightReign-style and invasion-style multiplayer isn't my bag, so I'll probably pass unless my son wants it. I say this as someone who put in ~1,500 hours on Elden Ring, so I really like the souls combat, landscapes, monsters, weapons and armor etc. I'd just prefer a medieval open-world with seamless, full co-op mode.

I'm hoping that it is purely optional, because let's be real folks, a portable system is often not ideal for getting into a multiplayer match you can't pause and resume later. How many of you think "Hey fellas, sorry, gotta dip, my break's over?" or "Hey my Uber just showed up see you later" sounds like a fun time in a multiplayer game?

Multiplayer goes against the whole idea of portability and pick up and play short bursts that are going to be common on the Switch 2. If it's something entirely optional that's one thing, but a game that can only be played under certain conditions that kind of go against the entire design of the platform? Not so much. That's my take anyway.

This game does not look appealing. Knew it was some weird multiplayer shit from the trailer and sure enough. They get From to make a game for them and it looks like their worst one…
