Thread: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - Official Reveal Trailer (Delayed to April 28, 2023)
I'm gonna guess that Cal doesn't succeed in this game just like the last one or the events of the Original Trilogy would have been very different. Even if he gets vastly more experianced and powerful he won't have a shot in hell of defeating Vader nevermind Palpatine and that will always limit anything he can reasonably accomplish bar lying low and working with Resistance/Rebellion ala Ashoka, Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger.

I don't see Disney allow you to break canon off its rails like Starkiller could by taking them out and Revan could save the galaxy or condemn it to an age of darkness under his and his apprentices rule because his story took place 4,000 years before A New Hope, not 10 years.

For what it is worth I think Respawn would like to do a Trilogy, and albeit EA are at the end of their SW contract now, I suspect that given the goodwill people have towards JFO and JS looking like a very good sequel, that short of some catastrophic sales (which seems unlikely) a 3rd game is almost certainly on the cards. However, much like the TV series, nothing in the games is going to usurp the Film Canon.

155GB. JFC. TBH though having watched a bunch of previews. I'm not remotely surprised. The environments in JS are much larger than in JFO and albeit most of what has been shown centres around Kobo which is the starting location, apparently, the game straddles 7 major locations. Although I suspect that not all will be as expansive as Kobo, which has both useable mounts and fast travel in it because that's how big it is. With that said Respawn have shied away from calling it 'Open World' although it definitely operates more from a hub perspective, unlike JFO where your ship was your home base.

I have only watched your first, Fextralife, video and I am beyond hyped. Respawn has a game of the year contender from what I have seen and know from completing Fallen Order.

I just won't be able to get it on launch day, unfortunately.

I think you could be right. Seems from what I've read and watched that they have really built upon the foundation of Fallen Order, which in itself was a pretty solid title and there is going to be a large amount of content to the game (almost 3 times the size of the original at 155GB). I'd have started the year saying that Bethesda if they play their cards right with Starfield are in with a good shot, and that might still be the case (have to wait for that summer showcase to see how far they have taken it), but I could easily see Survivor being a strong contender.

Good stuff looks like Cere isn't part of the crew any more as it looks like she has taken on more of a spiritual role (I guess she is more there to encourage you as a mission giver). However, Merrin clearly stepping up to play a bigger role as a companion along with new member of the team Bode Akuna.

Xbox Series S is going to stream the game data, isn't it?

I will wait for a patch where they optimize it and reduce the file size to something thats not ridiculous.

I think it's fair to say huge assed installs are going to be the hallmark of Next Gen.

I hadn't considered that, since I never consider the Series S.

I've always maintained that the Series S is Microsofts White Ninja, designed solely to entice the Asian market into give it a shot with its small form factor, white aesthetic and gamepass. Perfect for if you are living in some Tokyo Micro apartment where space is limited and a full 4K TV might be a struggle.

Physical copies of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will require a download to play.

That's according to a post on the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor subreddit which appears to show physical copies of both the Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game.

This is perhaps unsurprising following the news that the game's digital version clocks in at around 150GB, which is far larger than standard, or even dual-layer blu ray discs.

The file size on the Xbox Series S is significantly less, at only 44GB, meaning that 100GB of the game's file is likely taken up by the 4K textures that will only be used on the PS5, Series X, and PC versions of the game.

What's unknown, however, is the size of the download itself. Players were upset to discover last year that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 included just 72 MB of data on its physical disc, requiring the entire game to be downloaded digitally.

While it's currently unconfirmed, the need for a digital download could make Star Wars Jedi: Survivor unplayable in the future should access to the servers be shuttered.

£59.99 ($75) here in the UK on Steam... ouch. Given how quick the first game dropped in price, I'd advise waiting unless your super fan.

I downloaded the preload, but I better not have to install a 100GB day one patch before I can play tomorrow at midnight. If I stay up and then can't play because of unpacking or installing or patch updates, I will not be pleased.
