Thread: Sony confirms God of War, Horizon and Gran Turismo TV shows are in the works
Sony is all about maximising that IP apparently. No attachment to any of these so, I guess wait and see.

Will aloy get Disney'd?

Sony are in a good position to use their media departments to strengthen playstations IPs and visa versa. With VR on the horizon, will Sony be the first studio to release a non-porn VR film?

I wonder why Sony don't combine music, movies, TV and games into a Sony+ subscription service?

I have zero interest in a Horizon show, a GoW one COULD be decent. But its GT that I think could be great if they formatted it like Top Gear or Fifth Gear. Part car review, part random adventure and then splash in some GT online racing that players can join. Just hope they dont try to make it a story based show.

You know, with the right hosts that actually sounds kind of entertaini.........
Well fuck everything.

Hmm Gran Turismo.......maybe they could throw Jeremey Clarkson and co a bone as they are really the only car show hosts that would be entertaining to watch

Erm, I'll pass on all of them.

Honestly, I think it's a case of wait and see what the end result is. In large part, the success of any of these movies/shows really comes down to the quality of the writing and world-building, and how well that is realised and executed. Truthfully writing in games is pretty weak for the most part when held up against that in Film or Television (esp the latter) where a coherent narrative is tantamount if we are talking about serious drama. Film & TV critics are a lot less forgiving than Game Reviewers when it comes to stories.

I think the TLOU HBO series is really going to be the litmus test on this tbh. Because albeit the game was a phenomenal success, we've had plenty of Post-Apoc Zombie Dramas in both Film & Television and they're going to really need to do some work to distinguish it from what's come before. Going full woke with the sequel might have earned Druckmann plus point with the Twitterati and Game Journos, but the recent adaptation of Y The Last Man on FX was Woke out the wazzo (Trans character, truly useless male lead, Men are all terrible, Lesbians, Strong Females) but it didn't gel with audiences or critics and was cancelled even before the first season finished.
