I really should get back to some racing, I have neglected my wheel for over a year now.
Must admit I'm not getting much racing done due to the arrival of my little boy - parenthood is great but it kills your gaming time.

Nice update to Automobilista 2...

Cracking little racer tbh with some wonderful vintage cars alongside the more standard content and that unique Brazillian stuff. Some questionable accuracy on a couple of tracks that I know fairly well but it's great fun to drive and a fantastic single player experience if that's what you're after. Not really tried out the online side to comment on that.

I will be installing it soon as my next car game. Got it with a bunch of others in that sim racing humble bundle a few months ago.

So I am awakening from my Sim Racing slumber now that life is evening out a bit. It's been quite a rollercoaster for the past year or so. But now that I can focus on things a bit I decided to jump back into iRacing. Got the rig hooked up at the new place and running well. Decided to try a little Nascar, while it was extremely fun to race so closely with so many other people paying 15 bucks for a new Oval track per week seems to me a bit of a waste at the moment.

I decided to jump into IMSA and that has been the most fun I have had while racing in a long time. Racing along with two class of cars is a ton of fun. I have been using the LMP2 and its so fun to dodge the slower GT3 cars. I entered my first official race the other day. Decided to skip qualifying just to get a feel for it and start towards the back. 34 people on the grid total, 15 or so of them were LMP2 and the rest GT3. I started 12 of 15 in my class. Took it nice and kept pace with the pack for about 3 laps, moved up 2 spots and then my back left tire caught a little grass and yanked me off the track. Dropped back to about 12th. The slower LMP2 cars were gaining on me and I got back on the track, made it a few turns and got clipped by one of them. That sent me into a tail spin and I ended up facing backwards watching all the GT cars coming up on me. I had to wait until all of them passed me to safely get back on the track. From there I had about 40 minutes left in the race and 1 pit stop to do. This is where the fun started, I was basically in 34th place. I decided to just have fun with it, it was a blast to catch up to my class and fight thru the GT cars. After a few minutes I worked my way thru the GT cars and passed their leader, then lapped them again and finally made it back to the LMP2 cars and ran 7th for the rest of the race, would have had 6th if the driver in that place hadn't caused up both to collide but I took my pit stop for fuel and some small repairs. Ended 7th.

Was a total blast and really makes you work on that race craft a bit.

Other than that I will be racing 5 different Series this year so I made a spread sheet of the tracks I owned and what I needed that was shared among them. Bought 8 tracks and 2 cars and it put me in the 40+ Piece club iRacing has which unlocks a 20 percent permanent discount.

Racing IMSA, GT3, VRS Sprint, NTT Indy Car and LMP2.

Also signed back up with Apex Racing Academy for some setups.

So if anyone wants to do some private races let me know, wouldn't mind goofing around a bit. Would love to eventually do some endurance races with Teams.

Since all of the BTCC mods for AC came out a little while ago and after downloading some faster AI racing lines, I almost haven't played anything else at all.

Having the full 1990s BTCC grid with all their glorious sounds and beautiful liveries has me immensely hooked.

Been thinking lately about upgrading my g29 wheel to an actual DD one. I've been looking at the Fanatec wheels mainly for compatibility with GT7, but any recommendations?

Undecided on the 8nm one vs the new 15nm bases that dropped recently. Not sure that's worth it?

Racing necro!

Got my gear connected again and went back to some sim racing, starting with Automobilista 2, ACC and DiRT Rally 2.

But I am also ready to upgrade my gear to some good Direct Drive ones and started looking.

Is anyone in here still racing and interested in bouncing ideas for new gear?

Since I play on PS5 as well, I went with a Fanatec 8nm base. I also looked at Simagic. And if I was going PC only, I would have likely gone with them instead.

Pretty happy with the Fanatec so far, but I came from a cheap logic wheel.

Just took a look at Simagic. Nice stuff, quite on the high end side I would think at these prices.

I am trying to decide on which brand to go. Fanatec, MOZA and now looking at Simagic. Are there any more worth considering?

Also, would a 12nm base suffice? Mind, I am coming from a Logitech G920 (and I'm on PC).

Do you live near a Microcenter? I saw they carry Moza in stock and often at a discount.

Moza might be the way to go for a first rig. I went with Fanatec simply because they support PS5 natively. I probably would have gone with Moza if I only cared about PC.
