I'm about to break my PS5! I have this weird ass bug while playing Returnal. The game keeps sending me to the dashboard every 10 seconds

I've been looking everywhere for a god damn solution and I can't find any! PLEASE HELP BEFORE I THROW THE CONSOLE FROM THE BALCONY!
 
Never seen that before with any of my games. Only thing I can suggest is sending in the report when prompted, and to search Returnal boards and discussions for people having the same problem.

Is it digital? You might want to delete it and then download it again.

You think it might be the joystick button? Try a different joystick.

I tried both controllers and they're the same. This is the first game I actually play on PS5

The pre-order costumes are causing crashes, don't use them. I have a lot of friends playing this and very few of them have seen more than one or two crashes / freezes unless it was due to the costume issue.

I'm not crashing. I'm getting switched to the dashboard like if I pressed the controller home button.

Both my controllers started acting up at once, one has drift on the left stick and the R2 is loose on the other. The latter is obviously a HW problem but since the left stick drift doesn't show up in most games (Just in Ghost of Tsushima and only in the menus of Control, but not in-game) I'm beginning to think its a software issue maybe.

I think if I could just calibrate it that would fix the issue.

I did the newest console update whenever that was and I have no issues, but I've been skipping the controller update for like a week straight lol

Just an aside, that controller update prompt should really happen when you turn on the PS5, and not 24 hours from the time you dismiss the message. I'm on the couch playing a game every single time it pops up and I just keep saying yeah I'll do that tomorrow, because I'm in the middle of a damn game.

Are you getting an error code to go along with it? If so, please share it. If not, id imagine a reinstall should fix things.

Also, do you keep getting crashes when loading a specific save/continue file? I had a corrupted save in CP2077 which cause this same issue, but I just reverted to an earlier save, and all was well. Good luck!

Guys please focus 😂 I'm not crashing. I just get sent to the dashboard like if I pressed the controller home button

Its always come up at launch for me, never in the middle of gaming. I've dismissed it multiple times as well. More bugs? lol

I really don't have any other ideas tbh, its a massively gay problem and hopefully its just software stuff that gets fixed soon.

Don't throw it off the balcony though, you silly billy.

It never comes up at launch for me, maybe I'm choosing the wrong option. There are 3 different buttons you can press when the message comes up, and I forget what the options are now. I always choose notify me again in 24 hours.
 
Nevermind your game problems, the big news here is that you have a balcony, you fancy motherfucker. Can't you just wile away your worries by smoking cigrattes out there with an Isabella Rosselini type?

This is the weirdest shit I have heard so far. I can't really add any help that you haven't tried, but just know that I'll support you by playing Returnal for hours and hours today without it ever sending me to the dashboard! 😛
