I am hoping a Paladin or Knight class gets added.
Knight Penitent though that may require a few changes in the story. Templar, Paladin or Crusader could always return. Monk also.

It would be cool to have classes able to spec into some of the older classes/abilitiy sets, like for example Rogue being able to spec into Demon Hunter or Assassin.

Anyone been playing Season IV? I really like what they did with loot and I'm finding the game to be quite enjoyable now. Of course, I'm running a very overpowered Sorcer build (Incinerate and Hydra) right now, but it's been fun to plug away at it in 30 ~ 60 minute sessions.

I'm balls deep in a sorc. Just hit 100.
It's lot better. You can fully spec a character and try to get to Ubers in about 40 hours now.

Very much Diablo 3. They want you to try more than one character a season but also very doable for people who want to just pop in, finish the season pass, and pop out.

Gems still need a rework imo. Loot is a lot better but diversity of builds is still not phenomenal.

It's better, but still needs some TLC.

Yeah, at least with my current build, it definitely feels a lot more arcadey like Diablo III, which I do prefer. 40 hours to max level seems a bit quick, though. I just reached level 80, but what are you doing primarily for exp? Just Nightmare dungeons that are well above your level?

I was playing with group of two others who power leveled me through some of the pit after I hit like 60s. So I probably cut out a good 5-10 hours. But remember to use elixers and ashes which will further boost you.

Since attempting the campaign again is crippled by it being capped and massively over leveling when I inevitably get compelled to do all the local region side quests, is it best to just skip it for new characters?

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred - Gameplay Overview | gamescom 2024
The expansion comes out in just over a month! Cannot wait to see where the story goes and hope the new class is fun to play. I also REALLY hope they do some Egyptian inspired armor sets so I can pretend I am in Stargate.

I'm a chad and already pre-ordered to get the Cat mount (which is awesome!) My Barbarian is damn near He-Man now.

I haven't played the game since launch honestly. Beat the campaign with my best friend and we got really bored really fast after that.

What's the word on replayability these days?

In all honesty...limited. They definitely made the game much better in season 3 and 4 and now 5 are pretty damned fun and MUCH easier to level. But does it beg replay? No.... its just encouraged. I personally hate the season model and have done new builds the last 3 seasons, Druid, Sorc, Barb. Not sure what I would do in season 6 if not for the new class.

Though my #1 go to is still my Necromancer I made at launch. Just love to kill an hour or two in hell tides and doing a tree of whispers loop...or two.

I'm not counting the days until the expansion releases, but I'll play it. I just hope they don't pull some stupid shit with Neyrelle besting Mephisto because she's a girl boss.

After looking at the 2.0 changes it's depressing to see how they are making the game even more like Diablo 3 and the inclusion of "runewords" is just laughable.

I completely gave up on the game after they slowed down leveling and even load times leaving dungeons. But I may give the story add on a shot.

Currently been on PoE and its so addicting.
PoE is so good, but PoE 2 looks like a 2025 GOTY contender, it looks absolutely sick as fuck.

We are only a week out from the Expansion releases. Guessing reviews will drop soon?

I preordered so it won't sway me, but look forward reading/watching them. New class looks interesting but not the one I wanted them to add.

Damn 54$ here for the expansion. Undecided, might wait a bit for the reviews

I'm sitting out on the expansion if Neyrelle does anything but die. If Blizzard pulls a "Neyrelle is a fucking girl boss and she not only endured Mephisto, but helps the player defeat him." then I'm out.

Curious did you really enjoy the base game to give them full price for an expansion? To me Diablo 4 was the beacon in the light Blizzard has nothing left in the tank.

Can't justify giving this company another fucking dollar

I did! Probably put 200hrs into the base game. The seasons since #3 have been great. My only complaint is that I cannot use my "Eternal Realm" characters in the seasons.

So for a continuation of the story and a new class I can give Blizzard the price of entry… plus I had to have the cat mount!

Was honestly shocked by the review scores but I'm highly skeptical of the long term playability as I think it'll be just fun enough to keep you hanging for another overpriced DLC.

For 10-12 hours of story content I won't pay more than 20 especially to Blizzard who will want additional micro transactions monthly for participation in the fucking DLC you paid for.

Hoping @Arkam digs it and curious to see your review of it

Where'd you see that number? I watched a review on YouTube that said the campaign was 6-8 hours. Curious which is closer to the truth.

Based on how the base game is, I think it really depends on how you weave in side quests while doing the campaign. I probably spent~25-30 hours to get through if memory serves correct. But I definitely was doing side quests. Probably could have gotten through it in ~8 hours.... but damn would that have been a shallow experience by comparison. Also there are a decent amount of end game dungeons that you cannot do until you are a higher level. I didnt get through those until well after I beat Lilith.

So I would take any estimate with a grain of salt unless you know how they played and how you will play.

Of course, but considering how small the expansion continent is the 6-8 hours seemed like it'd be more accurate than 10-12.

I read it somewhere in one of the review threads somebody had claimed as much.....which feels low to me 6-8....yikes

Just looked into spoilers on the story. Blizzard did pretty much what I thought they'd do. They can go fuck themselves, I'll get it when it is dirt cheap if at all.

All they did was make you pay for an update you should've got for free with content that likely could've been included in a paid season instead.

Think I've seen my last Blizzard purchase

Even if that story content was free I'd still be pissed. It's that bad.

Ok, now we are being insane. Of all the games to cast shade on for paid DLC vs free content. I am AMAZED at how much FREE content they give us each season. I have run live service games and this seems like a money loser. IDK how much they are making on the cosmetics, but if its not a shit ton, they are losing money. I mean pretty much every season (since at least 2) has added some new gameplay mechanic or meta feature. And we are what, season 6 now? So at least 5 free updates with hours of content. And it doesn't look like they are stopping anytime soon.

Now, the story, it might suck. Ill find out this weekend.

It's very charitable to say the seasons have been anything but a massive disappointment. They've been extraordinarily lazy with them, borrowing mechanics from D3 or PoE and one of them was literally just "we fixed our fucked up itemization".

The biggest feature that ships with the expansion is a raid that forces multiplayer...in a game where 85% of the player base plays solo. The game is run by retarded people.

Now, the story, it might suck. Ill find out this weekend.

Lower your expectations.

Played Vessel Of Hatred for ~8 hours so far. I haven't even started the new story stuff yet. Been having too much fun skilling up my Spiritborne doing season shit. I'm level 36 and all my abilities are Eagle. Makes a solid cycle for the combat. Run into the crowd, use vortex to suck them in, hit them with that bird aoe while tossing some spinning feathers. Depending on the MOB, I can slaughter >20 in like <5 seconds

For the story, they start you out with a nice recap montage of the events of the base game. This was nice as I kinda forgot a few things. Then you see a little setup in Kyovashad where you get an update on Inarius' cult after the great battle in Hell. We shall see how things go once I actually start pursuing Neyrelle and the main story.
