Running a game before release doesn't make the emulator illegal anymore than your game console would be illegal for running a game shipped to you ahead of the street date.

Someone probably broke the law but not the emulator or its devs.

But the augment by some people is it's not used for pirating. It's been proven many times that games been pirated even before released. Especially Nintendo developed games where the only place that can supposedly be played is on a Nintendo console!

NSPs are released up to a week or two before the game launches all the time yet the games still sell like pancakes.

I was playing both the latest Pokemon game and the latest Tears of the kingdom a solid week on emulator before they were released to consumers.

The fact I could do that speaks to greater internal problems with Nintendo than anything else.

If that logic works for Nintendo then it applies to all the woke games people cry about on here too

I really could take or leave all Nintendo games. I had access to every Switch game for free (and a few I bought). Only Mario Kart or Odyssey got over 5 hours play time. But I get your point, if it was a Sony cinematic game it would be hard to resist even if Sony were acting as shitty as Nintendo. Not sure what I would do tbh.

As DonDon talked about earlier, and as a former freeloader from real pirates myself (shit my first pirated game was a Chuck Yaeger "freeware" on DOS) ufff. Yeah, pirates love to sugarcoat.

80%, and i'm being generous with the number here, does emulation to play games for free.

And believe me, I am all in for preservation, and I know that there is a number that goes with this for that reason, and for the technical education that comes from it. But as i've said myself all these years: you are kidding yourself if you don't think this is all about piracy and freeloading.

But don't fret, after all, there is always a way, a loophole. This will be a nuisance to ya'll for some time only.

That's fine for games that you actually purchase. But you don't purchase every game that you play. Or do you? I kind of doubt you purchase every single game that you play on the PC. If you do not purchase every game that you play on an emulator, then what do you call that? And I kind of doubt that you or any other PC gamer would boldly walk up to an executive of Nintendo/PlayStation/Xbox and tell them "I enjoyed playing your games on (x) emulator for free" because you know what could happen

It would be a fan boy move because it would be born of misplaced passion. Like why would I say ill never play a Nintendo game again when one could potentially come round the corner and be everything I want in a game? Or vice versa say I'd only play Nintnedo games only etc.

I purchase every game that is available for sale to me on PC, but if it's not available I'll emulate until it is. I'd say 95% of my games are bought.

I don't care too much about Nintendo, or Xbox to be honest and even Sony has lost alot of it's prestige IMO.
