Thread: My problem with the Super Mario RPG Remake

The problem is that it's just too damn good and since I beat it a few days ago (I have beaten the SNES version many times) I am left with nothing to play that lives up to it. Tried Paper Mario 64, not doing it for me. Tried a few other games but they just aren't as fun. So instead of waiting for the Thousand Year Door remake, I just hooked up my Wii (component cables) and will play the Gamecube version and hope it is as fun as Super Mario RPG remake.

One of the things I enjoyed in the last playthrough was scanning all the enemies for the bestiary and collecting all the hidden treasures. I usually don't care about these things but changing goals makes replays interesting. Anyway, what game ruined all other games for you and left you with nothing to play?

It's a tad bit on the easy side of things but i loved the charm and the adventure. :)

The trio of games that appear to be incapable of being surpassed after all these years (according to my taste) are Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Paper Mario

Super Mario RPG is one of the GOATs

Yup. Super Mario RPG was always a top 5 all timer.

See also Chrono Trigger, FF6, Earthbound, and Secret of Mana

I dont think ill ever enjoy gaming as much as I did exploring the SNES rpg classics as a kid. Even the more slept on titles like Secret of Evermore or Illusion of Gaia are just 👌

Have you played Terranigma? Wondering if that game is as great as the ones you've mentioned above

I actually prefer illusion of Gaia
I'm fairly lucky, I've seen those two games on the SNES at various stores and online, as well as magazines in the past but all I know about them is that they're role-playing games and heavily favored by retro games enthusiasts. Not sure if I can picture a single screenshot or recall even a single line spoken about either game

I just know that they're supposed to be great

Nothing really because the games I like there a few other entries of similar high quality. I can't really think of anything so good that dosn't have a similar game just or almost as good. Perhaps Witcher 3 compared to other open world games would count!

Same, Terranigma felt like a graphical downgrade, the story was a bit all over the place, and IoG had the better soundtrack.

But I do like Soulblazer more than either of them.
