Damn Barves FU

It'll be tough to beat them two more consecutively though.

Considering who they had starting the past 2 games I wouldn't worry too much if I'm a Braves fan. They fired off back to back bullpen games with inexperienced arms, so losing one wasn't surprising. Having two proper starters for game 6 and 7 should help.

Thor leaving the Mets to go to the Angels :cry::cry::cry:

METS WAKE THE FUCK UP
Yeah this shit caught me way off guard.

Last I'd heard he was happy to have been extended the QO and was likely to sign.

Then the Angels dangle slightly more money and he's gone? So much for loyalty. I guess that's business. Though I feel like the Mets' training staff has really struggled in recent years. I don't follow other teams as closely obviously but they seem to have had a hard time. Have to wonder if that plays into it at all.

I guess the upside is the draft pick compensation, and payroll flexibility to add a different high priced arm that has less durability concerns.

But still. Shocking, and sad. Big Thor fan.

Yeah, eventually we'll probably find out what happened with the negotiations (or lack thereof). Sad to see him go. Unfortunately there aren't a ton of huge arms available (without costing us the 14th overall pick in compensation).

I've seen an argument made that with Conforto likely to sign elsewhere as well, just horde the draft picks, get as much of a haul as possible for deGrom, then rebuild around Lindor, Alonso, and Nimmo while shedding other bad contracts where possible (e.g. McCann). I can see the logic to an extent, but regardless there's no way Cohen will have that kind of patience.

We'll just have to see to what level he's willing to raise the payroll.

Glad the Nats didn't chance the $$ for when the wheels fall off

Still it's sad to see him not in the W. I hope Soto shows his ass during and after ABs against Max
That third year could get ugly. But it's Cohen's money, not mine. Somebody was going to overpay, why not Cohen. If deGrom can be remotely healthy, pairing these two is going to be fun.

Oh I agree. And even as a Nats fan, I am happy to see the Mets win now attitude for deGroms sake

Harper, Scherzer, Turner and Rendon all in different unis. Strasburgs awful anchor of a contract. Anybody who thinks the Lerners are ponying up for the best player in baseball is kidding themselves. And my guess is after they let Soto walk Rizzo is going to roll.
