I don't bitch about umps often while watching a game, but good lord was I justified last night. Absolutely terrible game by Randazzo, I groaned when he rung Betts up too cause terrible calls are terrible calls.

Still got to be happy with SF so far

Mets suck. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. But now I'm back out again because Diaz sucks. (That being said, bad missed call at the plate on the thing run.. Dude clearly never touched the plate.... And they still got it wrong after a replay review. Geez.)

As a fan of R Kelly I can relate to your shame of having to admit such things publically

Same old Mets

As a bystander and a witness to this wreck, there's not really words to accurately describe the scope of the accident. It's about like the single car crash on the interstate that left the driver's body draped over the overhanging traffic sign for the morning rush hour to look at until the city could get someone out there to remove it.

Lesson there was don't drive drunk, but I'm not so sure that applies to the Mets front office. We thought that team was stacked, but these damned injuries are just piling up all over MLB. It's time to allow some PEDs back into the game, I think. I mean, I for damn sure don't enjoy watching Soroka, Acuna, Ynoa, and a flurry of other important players ride the pine for most of the season due to injuries. It would be better for the game if guys recovered quickly and didn't suffer from as much fatigue as we see today.

Life long Red Sox fan checking in. Hanging on to a wildcard spot by the skin of our teeth. Playing absolutely dreadful d as of late and the bullpen is piss.

AL East is such a cluster fuck right now with the Jays surging at the right time and the Yanks throwing. Going to be an interesting 3 weeks for sure.

@Musky_Cheese What do you think Nats are going to do in the offseason? Looking at how bad the team is right now I'd say they need a fair few players to be in contention next year.

Well first, Congrats @Rock And Roll

I don't know what they do. The team for the past few years has been determined by the injuries sustained. Going into this year, the sky was the limit but was also always determined by health. And they had the bad luck in that department.

The opening week was destroyed by Covid. A good chunk of the roster was out because of quarantine. And that huge down time between Spring training and when guys could officially play.

Josh Bell and Kyle Schwarber who were supposed to be big bats in the lineup started incredibly slow do to that down time. (Hit the links and look at those stats by month)

You can't predict health, and you certainly can't predict losing a player like Starling Castro because of domestic violence.

While people will be quick to point out Strasburg always being hurt, he wasn't in 2019... And we all know how that ended.

One would have to assume tho with Turner traded, a rebuild we are doing. We havent been in this positionj in 10 years. So I don't know what they are really doing.

Can I just say that if the Yankees blow it and somehow don't get a WC, I will do a special dance of joy. :p

If Toronto gets in, they could be very dangerous imho. Great run-diff.

A Nationals rebuild was obvious to us in Braves country. We thought Max would have been traded sooner than he was, but the deadline was a fine time for that. The answer to the Nats' woes is depth, and good depth usually comes from a replenished farm. Next season will likely suck to sit through, but it will be worth it. Only question is how much deferred salary is your club looking at dealing with over the next 3, 5, and 10 years? I only recall that the Nats have been juggling salary deferrals for quite a long time in order to afford all the talent....

It isn't a afford thing, it is a (belief) money coming in. How long the MASN dispute lasts and what the result is determines the deferrals.

Valid point. Still it would seem that the farm just isn't there to fill the voids. In this current version of baseball, you need a couple of capable possible all-stars for every position and probably double the starting pitching you would normally need.

Oh definitely the farm isn't currently there. That result is in the last 10 years with trading away to win. And they did win so no bad feelings here.

I barely watch the Jays so maybe things have changed since the start of the season but I'm not sold on their bullpen or their starters outside of Ray and Ryu. Starters don't go deep into postseason games anymore and poor pitching depth never results in a deep October run

Edit: forgot they traded for Berrios. Definitely helps but unless all those guys go 7 strong each start could be trouble

Yeah, they'll probably need to slug their way home, and as you said poor pitching and October don't mix. I just want the Yankees to fail. :p

A team can get hot at the right time and then anything can happen.

It's true, but I'm going to make a prediction here. The Jays are in an incredibly weak league and their offense is boosted AF at the moment and this is all a mirage. I don't see them being able to handle the White Sox or Astros if they met in the postseason, let alone the Giants/Brewers/Bums if they made it to the WS.

They should have won last night
No excuses
Player on 3rd and 1st and 1 out?
no excuses!
Story of the whole season for the Braves. If they don't park one in the seats, they don't often score. Their execution of fundamental baseball is about as bad as we've ever seen it when it comes to just putting one into the gap with a runner on 3rd.

Notice, these Braves didn't emerge over .500 until they added a group of sluggers in Duvall, Soler, and Rosario. Not one of them is really a star, but each one brings pop.
