Minecraft Movie's Size & Game Authenticity Teased By Producer

Minecraft producer Jon Berg teases the epic scale of the upcoming movie and promises that it will be faithful to the original game.

  • Minecraft movie producer Jon Berg promises it will be true to the popular game.
  • The Minecraft movie will capture the spirit of the game, with no specific details revealed on plot and characters at this time.
  • Director Jared Hess is expected to bring his unique style to the adventure video game adaptation, raising high hopes for the film's success.
Minecraft movie producer Jon Berg teases its scale and promises it will be true to the game. Considering Minecraft is one of the most popular and best-selling games in history, it was only a matter of time before it became a movie. However, the adaptation ended up taking longer than expected to become a reality, spending almost a decade in development hell at Warner Bros. It was only recently that the studio confirmed the movie was happening and gave it an official release date.

While speaking to Screen Rant on the Ordinary Angels red carpet, Berg teased the scale and faithfulness of the Minecraft movie adaptation. Berg hyped up the film, noting that it had a major studio, all the resources, and two big actors. He promised it will "inspire people" and also stay true to the original game. Check out his statement below:

That's going to be an amazing movie, that's going to be an amazing movie. We have all the resources. It's a big Warner Brothers spectacular. We've got Jason Momoa and Jack Black in it. I think it's going to inspire people. Minecraft's such a cool game. My kids played it; I played it, it's going to be true to the game. And Jared Hess directing is going to do an awesome job.

What To Expect From The Minecraft Movie

Unsurprisingly, Berg doesn't reveal any specific details about the Minecraft movie. Despite setting a release date and making several casting announcements, the movie has kept its plot and characters firmly under wraps. Still, Berg's promise of remaining true to the game is quite interesting. One of the reasons Minecraft is so intriguing is that the game doesn't provide a definite storyline. It's a game that gives players the freedom to build, explore, or survive whatever they can imagine. Since it looks different to everyone, there's not just one story or way to do Minecraft.

Berg's statement raises many questions about what he could mean by the movie being true to the game. Perhaps he means it will potentially reflect the game's spirit, graphics, or limitless story possibilities. Berg also mentioned Jason Momoa and Jack Black, which isn't surprising as they're the two biggest names attached. Their roles are undisclosed, but the producer suggests they will be significant. Wednesday's Emma Myers has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role, while Danielle Brooks plays a character named Dawn, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen plays one named Henry.

Berg also expressed faith in Jared Hess's directing capabilities. The filmmaker certainly has an impressive resume, as he is the director and writer behind major hits such as Napoleon Dynamite. He has also worked with Black before on Nacho Libre. While Hess has primarily focused on comedies, seeing his take on an adventure video game adaptation will be interesting. Ultimately, Berg has high hopes for the Minecraft movie, but it remains to be seen how its faithfulness will take shape and if it can live up to its big vision and cast.

Whats with Jack Black ? Holy horrible acting Batman.
You can tell the movie is going to be bad because the trailer focused 90% on black and 9% on Aquawoman and 1% on the rest of the cast. Black lady must have tested horrible she has almost 0 trailer time.. oh and apperantly there are 2 other people who get sucked into Minecraft land too...
Looks like a horrible cross between the Mario movie and Jumanji. It has bomb written all over it. Sorry Jason Mamosa is not going to be a draw and just being based on a popular videogame is not enough to sell tickets.

I am being forced to go see this train wreck. My studio decided they wanted to take everyone to see it since its a "videogame movie" and our leadership team assigned me as the babysitter for the event. Basically making sure everyone gets their ticket and then making sure they all can find the theater.

If your not getting paid just say you have to leave because your kid got sick or something , I hate mandatory work shit on your own time

I genuinely love this game, so while I don't care to see this movie, I'd have to pretend to be pissed if my job was forcing me to see it.

I am salary and its during work hours so I cannot complain too much from that perspective. I just hate how I am always the one our Executive Leadership Team taps for shit like this. They just know I am the "adult" who will make sure shit gets done correctly so they never have to worry about it getting bungled and make them/the studio look bad.

So I pray that this film is at least somewhat entertaining.
