Thread: Microsoft May Exit Gaming Business If Game Pass Subscribers off Console Don’t Increase Enough by 2027
@teezzy @Zog No need to get that invested and emotional guys. You don't have to interact with people you don't like, use the ignore feature or just move on instead of name calling and trolling. These industry threads seem to be some serious business I guess.

I'd say bye Felisha except for the fact it would just make Sony worse.

pretty much this. that ms asshole must around to keep the sony asshole in check. and both asshole must be rivals competing with each other. not acting like long lost friends and copying what's worse from each other.

I can leave autistic nintendo on that corner. unitl it remains autistic.

Everything I've read in your posts boils down to what I said in my first sentence of the reply. You just don't like change.
I mean it's obvious games were generally better in the past but to say there's very few or no good modern games is bs

If I had that opinion I definitely wouldn't be here.

I've certainly had to adjust my buying habits like waiting for sales, complete editions or patches or just straight up avoiding crap but there's more than enough awesome new games to play.

Why doesn't the first half of that sentence piss you or anyone else off?

My opinion of gaming today is lower than ever because of that very point. Each new console needs to come accompanied with exclusive, new experiences that couldn't be had on older hardware otherwise why am I being asked to shell out another $500? Games have barely changed/improved since the PS360 generation with the exception of graphics, and even there they're backsliding from 120 to 60 to 30fps.

I'm more pissed off than you think. I really restrain myself because how many times can I complain about it?

I really enjoy old games and treasure those more than anything but I still appreciate new games.
People say this, but play modern games and systems instead of old ones 🤷🏿‍♀️

Think a lot of rose tinted glasses are at play here
I do play old consoles ya doofus

@Joe T. Also I think my actions speak for themselves. I loved xbox 360, got all the games. I didn't buy xbox one because of the fall of in quality and the fact everything went to PC.

Now that the same is happening to ps5, I have no plans to buy ps6 and will fully transition to PC for multiplats. And given the digital nature of PC ill be even more selective in purchases.

That's a pretty clear statement of my dissatisfaction no?

Why do you assume we aren't? The best way to show dissatisfaction is by voting with your wallet that's the only language these businesses understand.

See, if MS wasn't in the console market, we wouldn't have this debacle.

But seriously, chill ppl. Time will tell what will happen. It's good to have people who like different things even if we ourselves don't. Don't want anyone banned here.

I base that view on the support I see here for today's games and the pushback that opposing points of view receive.

There are shortcomings with the idea that you should vote with your wallet. That's not much of a vote unless you've got a large percentage of consumers voting the same way, rarely are we loud enough for that to work. Our voice needs to back up what our wallet's doing and vice versa.

The second half of that line I highlighted left that up in the air. I don't think anything in the AAA space these days rises above mediocrity, that includes TotK, which I poured 180+ hours into, and the games I considered best of the year the previous few years. I considered them the best not because they did anything that moved the medium forward or presented a new standard for excellence, but because the entire field was so weak.

A rising tide lifts all boats, but the gaming tide hasn't been rising unless we're looking at sales. As gaming has stagnated sales have been on the rise. The same happened with Hollywood.

I hope no one's taking my comments/questions the wrong way. I'm genuinely interested in the discussion around these topics and learning where everyone's head is at. I've always loved this medium and want to see it reach its full potential, but find that today's market is working against that by rewarding much of what the industry is handing us.

@Joe T. Didn't like hogwarts?

I have a far more sour opinion on totk/botw than you 😅 I hate them so much that if I had hundreds of millions+ to buy Nintendo stock just for the small chance to respectfully ask to alter the direction for the series, I would.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys really like that game or if it's just a way to pass a lot of time xD

You're not far off the mark. Standards have fallen and I'm getting desperate to fill the gaming void with something, anything. TotK, like Halo Infinite and Uncharted (PC) before it, didn't win me over because it was exceptional, it did so because the rest of the field is so weak.

Hogwarts didn't do much for me, more of a virtual tour than a game. It didn't hold me for long.

The foundations most games are built on are horribly outdated. I get yanked right out of the experience when their faults present themselves - impossible to miss at 2160p - and immediately wonder why these massive, talented studios can't be bothered to one-up what Rare and Bungie did 20-25 years ago with Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Halo CE, or what Rockstar/NaturalMotion did 15+ years ago with GTA IV and Euphoria Engine, just to name a few examples.

I think hogwarts is pretty good, another open world game yeah but they did a good job. Predictable, but enjoyable. I definitely don't go into these games expecting revolutions.

Dude I just keep thinking where are the physics, next gen gameplay structures, AI and stuff that we were supposed to get with better cpus?

I swear the needle has not moved one bit from ps4 game design.

Exactly. I don't expect big changes either, nothing revolutionary, just something that moves the needle forward by some small margin and improves the way the games feel/play because of it. Seems everyone's too busy trying to maximize the size and look of their worlds to bother with the systems that make those worlds fun to goof around in.

I'm enjoying TOTK way more than BOTW. BOTW's magic lasted about 55-60 hours. I'm 170 hours into TOTK and haven't even entered a dungeon yet and having a blast bro. Well technically I did enter a Temple, but it wasn't your traditional dungeon or Temple in its condition. But the game is significantly more fun and interesting to me than BOTW. Collecting supplies and weaponry, etc is addicting and actually useful. The enemies are all around you and they are not merely there as fodder this time, they're an actual threat to Link's life and they will kill you if you're not prepared as well as alert, paying close attention to the angles of an attack. Think TLoZ or Zelda II level difficulty in the fields of Hyrule except its 3D and fully imagined. It's the Imprisoning War fully playing out in the future if I had to guess. Even 170 hours into the game I'm fighting for survival every time when I face most of these enemies. I'm not bored at all at this point, and there might even be a few hundred more hours of entertaining in it for me as crazy as that sounds

But the series at the very least needs to bring back more music and catchy tunes. This ambient light music in the overworld just aint doing it for me. Besides that, I also miss the tone of past Zelda games especially N64 ones where Link felt like he was under great pressure at every step to be on the mission and advancing. It's not like that in BOTW and TOTK where there is nature to explore for hundreds of hours and you can pit the story on hold. The next Zelda game needs to be more tailored towards story and trim down the farming and collect-a-thon aspects of the game (minus rupees, treasures) if not do away with it completely and bring items back
