The biggest gaming companies have slipped up a lot, to put it nicely, but as a gamer I feel like the time I spend gaming is better than ever. First party and AAA have never been weaker, but third party stuff —especially Indie stuff — is incredible nowadays.

I'm About a year into owning a PS5 and I feel like I've played so many gems already. However, Astro Bot and Returnal are the only two big PS5 exclusives that I loved, the rest have been mediocre to bad. Everything else has been indie and third party stuff. I feel like PS5 is a great standalone box to play most of the notable games one might want to play during its generation

At least some of you are having fun. I mean I enjoy some warzone and ufc 5 but that's about it. I haven't bothered with my Ps5 since finishing Ragnarok, which imo was overrated af. Im hoping the original trilogy does get a remaster, because those were the best.

But besides that I don't even have anything im looking forward to. Everything releases broken or half done and needs a few updates to be enjoyable these days.

Just like when they ran John Lasseter out of Pixar, and Issac Perlmutter from Marvel, they'll get rid of all the straight white male higher ups due to some kind of ism and equity and replace them with the same type of people that just ruined Rocksteady and the new Suicide Squad game.

That is such a horrible fit for the role. The woman is not a creative at all. Her career was a decade working for the NFL then joining Activision to use what she learned at the NFL to push eSports. I never understood how she leveraged that job to become the GM of COD.

But being an ex-Blizzard dev (yep, that's where I was), she is absolutely not what they need. They need a Shawn Layden type. Someone who gets game development and is willing to invest in exciting ideas. Not some front office business person. Might as well put a Jim Ryan or John Ricotello in charge.

Ragnarok was lame. I gave up about 5 hours in.

Not buying Day One helps with the patch issue. I feel like there's plenty to enjoy across a lot of genres

The best games in recent memory are both from smaller independent(ish) studios - Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring.

So honestly... yeah. Burn the motherfucker down.

Gaming as a service, DEI, and "remaster everything" are gonna break the industry.
