I love Mario Kart World so far but it is frustrating to accept sometimes when you're in 1st and then you get hit, next thing you know you're looking at 14th-18th place in a matter of two to three seconds while you try to get your kart going again in the middle of a stampede lol. That's how I would prefer it though. I want the competition to be fierce, and checking who is behind you should be more of a focus for racers in World. All in all, this game has more controlled chaos than in MK8DLX and I respect that Nintendo lessened the destruction. I also love how players who learn the game have a higher chances of being safe if not much safer due to their practice and training; knowledge of the game and the courses, etc.
In this game, you have to learn the shortcuts to gain the edge and you have to know the game well to be competitive. There will always be a little luck involved but it's a good thing to have like three to four characters and vehicles you're comfortable with and can become proficient with on most tracks
It's more balanced than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when it comes to the items. I enjoy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's willingness to challenge players on the racetrack more because those tracks were difficult and some were even poorly designed making the turns even more challenging which can be fun too (ironically) despite the questionable design choices by devs. Mario Kart World though, I like how it kind of forces players to get creative in what they do to speed ahead of the competition. There are a lot more things players can do to help themselves place higher in these races.
