I love Mario Kart World so far but it is frustrating to accept sometimes when you're in 1st and then you get hit, next thing you know you're looking at 14th-18th place in a matter of two to three seconds while you try to get your kart going again in the middle of a stampede lol. That's how I would prefer it though. I want the competition to be fierce, and checking who is behind you should be more of a focus for racers in World. All in all, this game has more controlled chaos than in MK8DLX and I respect that Nintendo lessened the destruction. I also love how players who learn the game have a higher chances of being safe if not much safer due to their practice and training; knowledge of the game and the courses, etc.

In this game, you have to learn the shortcuts to gain the edge and you have to know the game well to be competitive. There will always be a little luck involved but it's a good thing to have like three to four characters and vehicles you're comfortable with and can become proficient with on most tracks

It's more balanced than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe when it comes to the items. I enjoy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's willingness to challenge players on the racetrack more because those tracks were difficult and some were even poorly designed making the turns even more challenging which can be fun too (ironically) despite the questionable design choices by devs. Mario Kart World though, I like how it kind of forces players to get creative in what they do to speed ahead of the competition. There are a lot more things players can do to help themselves place higher in these races.

Last night I tried a couple of Knockout Tour rallies. At the last stretch both times I was in 1st place but one minor mistake cost me and got 3rd place the first time 4th place the next in just a matter of one mistake maybe two or three seconds. I love how competent this game's CPUs are during the races. It kind of prepares you for the online when you head in for a game

I bet they are planning to put out some update with a Grand Prix type of mode. And that's where people will get the traditional 3 lap race every time.

But I can see the complaint on this one. I'm not personally bugged one way or another as I don't dislike the road trip thing going on, but for that to be forced as the only option feels weird.

I LOVE Fascist Nintendo!! "Hmmm, no one wants to play the intermissions? We will see about that!".

I really like seeing them going full mask off right now. **Holding a customer with their arm behind their back** "You want your Bing Bing Wahoo!? Huh, do you want your Bing Bing Wahoo?! Well, you're going to pay 80 bucks a game and play it the way we tell you to, got it?!". "YESSSSS, I'M SORRY!!".

I've never heard of this technique, impressive to know that some gamers out there were sharp enough to notice this. Quicker drifts with this technique; essentially you want to drift by holding the left joystick slightly below the 45 degree angle so that it will charge up faster

There's also some controversy concerning the new update

Yeah this shit is fucked. In the higher level lobbies (say 7000 VR and higher) random was almost always winning every vote.

Nintendo, instead of taking that defacto feedback under advisement, decided to just flip everyone the bird. Fucking ridiculous. I usually give Nintendo some benefit so the doubt on some of their gay practices, but this is too much. Assholes.

I wonder what true percentage it goes to the one long lap versus the traditional three standard or traditional three laps or so per track. It makes sense to me that they would want players to see the entire World but there also should be a standard mode where it's the 3/3 laps to finish a race. I'm not upset at all over their decision, but I haven't been playing a lot of online yet to see how it goes. It almost makes me think that there might be plans to fit more classic or known tracks into the transitional areas later down the road? Maybe… Still haven't figured out what they're likely to do regarding that DLC that we all know will be here eventually

Here's an idea Nintendo, give players the options.

I know, I know, different games but I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 a bit lately and the first things you're presented with when launching that game are options. Easy/hard, assists, ai, etc etc. You can play how you want.

It's funny, a co worker brought their switch 2 to work the other day. I played this game and thought it was fine. Walmart had the switch 2 in stock online the other day, had it in my cart, checked out, and it said it was sold out. I tried to buy it. After this update, it snapped me back into reality. Nah man, Nintendo has lost their minds right now.

Damn I keep getting the same items while everyone else gets bullet bills and skip to number 1 :/

I guess that is where luck comes into the game. The bullet bills, triple mushrooms and golden mushrooms are the top tier items in this game. Even if you are in 24th place, just getting one of those items can make a big difference. Triple red shells are top tier if you are in the top 5 or so. Sometimes 1st place gets way ahead and they need to be whacked multiple times for anyone to have a chance against them.

Yesterday I unlocked Mirror Mode.

I think they should rename it Cool Driving Mode. The NPC's drive on the left just like they do in the cool countries.

Time Trial mode is actually pretty satisfying. I find myself sometimes doing some free roam in an area for a while, then since I just drove around that track and saw a bunch of little things I never noticed before, I go into the Time Trial for the course. So I get more solidified with one course at a time very casually.

Have to think the feature is coming down the pipe. Realistically, a bug fix like this has been at least a month in the making, meaning they had awareness of the bug, had a fix for it, tested it, and it was finally pushed out. It's possible they noticed everyone online hitting the random selection to play the game in an unintended way, but it's just as likely they already realized the issue and had planned to rectify it prior to system launch.

Given the popularity of the 3-lap track racing, they should move quickly to add it. I don't know if they will, though.

PS. You're missing out on a lot of fun. I own a PS5 and play those games, but when Nintendo has fresh new things to play, there's no comparison in my mind. The fun factor remains firmly in Nintendo's favor.

I'll probably jump in a bit later once they build up some first party titles. My original Switch, which the wife mainly uses, is shitting the bed though so it could be sooner than later. At this point I think it's mainly PC with a Switch on the side for me.
