Thread: Marathon launches September 23 (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC)
Let Nightdive do the trilogy.

The trilogy is up for free and it's even open sourced so it still gets community support.

I'm planning to dive into them one day, but what I heard about them already sounds so interesting, and this new temporary service rubbish sounds like such a far cry from what the original games were all about.

Strange teaser?

Either way. I'm confident this will be yet another live service success for Sony, I'm just a bit concerned about them potentially scaling back the diversity and inclusive art design because of those stupid grifters lately. I think gaming should be for everyone and I hope that Bungie will deliver on that front. We've seen some disgustingly sexualized designs recently, Marathon needs to have more gender neutral character designs.

Please don't fuck this one up! I really want to play an online live service first person shooter, that's quite the niche and there aren't enough of those games, so I'm very excited for this one.

What about Call of Duty? I am still enjoying Black Ops 6, even though they have made some ridiculous choices in the game design.

Looks like a random indie game they announce at PC gaming show.

I'm not fond of the art either. It looks uninspired, like it was made with a pre-done design suite. The few times you actually see a human face it's completely androgynous. Meh.

I actually do like the style and the gameplay loop sounds cool actually. It's really hard to feel anything about the gameplay from the teaser... Like the speed. Some seemed fast but others seemed slow and methodic. Could be cool if I had my old Blops2 record breaking squad but sadly we all met girls and had kids... Haven't found a squad since.

Anyway. I'd have to figure out which character identifies as an attack helicopter like me before I commit to buying...

It seems like Sony has lost the Midas Touch when it comes to developers. It used to be pretty much anything Sony touched was awesome. This looks like a clone, just like you pointed out.

I'm 100% sure the fundamentals will be solid. But this is Bungie. We should be seeing the next big trend in FPS. Bungie making their own version of 6+ year old concept is absolutely embarrassing. It would be like Housemarque going from Returnal to a generic zombie looter shooter.

I actually like the style 🤷‍♂️. Gives me that minimalist Tron vibe.

Yeah I like the Vibe... honestly reminds me of some Source mod I remember beta testing for a bit many many years ago (name escapes me sadly), that leaned into the whole futuristic/cyberpunk look. Also a bit mirrors Edge.

Sadly MP isn't my scene these days, but hopefully people enjoy it.

Wait, isn't this an Arena/BR + Extraction shooter? Has that been done before? As I understood it from the trailer, it's an arena shooter like either Apex or Fortnight but you get to keep your loot if you win and you move up a tier in matchmaking or something. I'd only be guessing about the sponsor system though.

I'm digging the art style but I need to see more of the gameplay. Not a huge fan of tactical shooters though. Not sire why they used the Marathon branding for this. It looks nothing like the old games

Game looks generic and shallow. Another boring PvP in a sea of a thousand PvP games. Concord 2.0

There's a chance this will be successful if it has great gunplay and overall really polished design, which I think Bungie can deliver.

That trailer just bores me to death.

I think it's going to be extremely hard, games like Fortnite are pretty much synonymous with the genre and it's going to be hard to pull people away from that. It would be like putting out a game called PokeFarm when Pokemon was peak popular. Good fucking luck.
