Police in Norway have asked how a man's body could have lain in his flat for nine years after he is believed to have died.

The man had been in his 60s and no-one reported him missing, police told Norwegian broadcaster NRK.

Police found the body in December last year in an apartment block in the capital, Oslo.

According to NRK, the body was found when a caretaker needed to enter the apartment for maintenance work.

Police say milk cartons and letters in the home suggested that the man had died in April 2011

not much to discuss but I found this weird and creepy. I first saw this on my local news then googled to find in English.

Apparently his pension was only cut off in 2018 and his rent was paid automatically from his account

They eat so much pickled fish in Norway that his body was decently preserved. Any rot was covered up by the pervasive smell of pickled fish.

I have given too much thought to this, I need to know if the tv stayed on and how long, if the refrigerator stayed on.

Then I started to think the fridge in our Riga apartment has been on non stop for at least 8 years, I never gave that any thought before

It kind of made me start thinking too. Weird situation. Glad he didn't have pets. Maybe they could have caught attention? But it probably would have had an ugly ending, one way or another.

There was a young lady from Riga,
she smiled as she rode on a tiger.
they came back from the ride,
with the lady inside,
and a smile on the face of the tiger.

How the hell is that even possible?! I've came across a rotten body and that smell can overtake the wildest of all smells
Same, holy shit, the smell is absolutely insane and it was outside. I can't imagine smelling a rotting body indoors.

I lived next to an old woman (whom neither me nor my girlfriend ever met or even saw) who died, and was rotting along for six weeks.
After a while we noticed a pungent stench, but didn't assume it was our rotting neighbor.

Later on a gay couple bought that flat and moved in.
I guess the corpse was removed before that, but you never know with these people.
