Thread: Mafia: The Old Country launches August 8
On one hand it is cool they just announce it instead of letting folks speculate. On the other hand game development today takes a long ass time. Sucks that we will have to wait a while.

I look forward to playing this in 2026.

Edit: Bummer that Hangar 13's open world Lovecraft game was cancelled and now they're back to Mafia.

Hope it's controls and plays similar to 3. Gameplay wise it's peak of the genre.

For sure. If only they had designed any interesting gameplay loop. I had such high hopes after the intro, but man, the whole experience tanked fast.

If it's anything like 3 count me the fuck out.

Yo this looks lit. Using Nanite from what I'm seeing, which is great. Visually stunning, like the setting. Solid showing, excited!

Ay Chrissy, have you told Aid bout that game bout that thing of ours? I heard you need a Genesis 4 or some shit to run it. Go see Big Pussy.

Game looks GREAT!!!

The game should be about a young Feech LaMana and Furios grandpa. Eventually you make your way to Jersey and hook up with the DiMeio family and a young Carmine Lupertazzi

Mafia: The Old Country will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on August 8, publisher 2K and developer Hangar 13 inadvertently announced.

The news comes via a Steam blog post about the game's upcoming PAX East 2025 developer panel on May 8. While the English version of the blog post does not contain a release date, other language versions of the post (LATAMarchive + screenshot, Japanese, etc.) all contain the line, "Mafia: The Old Country will be available on August 8, 2025. Pre-orders are available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam."

The release date was likely meant to be announced at the PAX East 2025 developer panel, where a new gameplay trailer will premiere and Hangar 13 will share a behind the scenes look at the past, present, and future of the series.

Thanks, Insider Gaming.

I have never played a Mafia game, but I am intrigued.

Seems soon. We still don't have even a glimpse of gameplay.

I agree. But there are a LOT of events over the next 3 months to shine the light on it.

Also I have to assume they have a mandate to ship ahead of GTA6.

Speaking of gtavi, WE NEED ANOTHER TRAILER ROCKSTAR WTF WHAT ARE YOU DOING THE GAME ISNT COMING OUT THIS YEAR IS IT ROCKSTAR DONT FUCK US ROCKSTAR

I feel like it will be bumped to 2026.

I think we will know by July for sure. It will be one of the "anchor" showings at one of the big showcases. (wouldn't be surprised if MS/Sony are in a bidding war just for that!) So we will either get a nice trailer and a new 2026 date or we will get a nice trailer and a confirmation of Oct 2025 release.

If they do bump to 2026, its gonna piss off a lot of publishers that have been intentionally giving it a wide berth.

The game releases for 49,99€ / $49.99 on August 8 for PS5, XSX/XSS and PC

We think there's a large audience for compelling stories that don't require massive time commitments," 2K president David Ismailer said in a statement. "We're excited to offer a game like Mafia: The Old Country in our portfolio, and to provide a linear highly-polished narrative experience that can easily complement the other more persistent games our players also love and engage with on a more consistent basis."

looks like a new uncharted.

I'm pleasantly surprised (never played any mafia game) with what I saw.

If this game is more like Mafia 1/2 than 3 then fuck yeah I'm in!

I really liked Mafia 2 but was always baffled by the size of the world considering how linear it was. If they have reeled that in, I am game.
