Serious question: why do you want a tattoo of your family?

If you have to ask others for tattoo ideas, then you really don't want the imagery badly enough to have it on your body forever. They should be personal dude

Not tryna be a dick, just saving you from jumping into something prematurely

I am thinking about getting a tattoo for 20 years now without doing it. I generally like tattoos and it would be fitting for me. Me wanting it to be a symbol of my three kids is because I want it to have meaning and of course they are the most important thing in my life.

Won't get anything prematurely because I have not set any date or anything, will get one when the time is right. Before taking a decision, I want to get as much information as a base as possible. Therefore I asked if anyone has a good suggestion which I could modify to fit my vision better or which could influence my decision.

I had my first tattoo 2 years ago, late 2019. On the inside of my right forearm.

I wanted one since I was very young, it only took me a few decades to do it. Still happy with it. I plan to do one more in the next couple of years, though still trying to decide what exactly.

What kind of tattoo did you go with?

4 in total.

One is 3/4 sleeve on my right arm done in black and white. I chose not to do color because I am outside all the time and colored tattoos look worse as they fade. I have had my sleeve for 12 years and still got complements often.... more a testament to the artists great work. Here is his profile.

Dude has the softest needle hand and I fell a sleep a few times while in the chair.

The other 3 are random small tattoos not worth mentioning.

I can understand a tattoo that is personally meaningful to someone, but I can't see myself ever getting one. I can't think of anything I know I want permanently displayed under my skin for the rest of my days.

I have a friend who has just decided he wants a tattoo and goes to the shop and picks something out of the book. Then there are the people who get the Chinese or tribal characters and it's like the equivalent of having a "Live, Laugh, Love" fixture in your kitchen. And my mind just can't grasp that level of shortsightedness, but that's what makes us all different I guess.

I have "in wine, truth" written on my stomach in Latin.

It's going to look so sweet when I'm getting my liver replaced.

I have a half sleeve Japanese style, last name on my stomach like a true cholo and the brand of sacrifice on back shoulder blade. Oh my last tattoo I got a snow cone in my armpit.

Get the first one somewhere you can cover or can't see. Its not a big deal imo. Just go do it if you want. Overthinking anything is boring.

I don't give the best advice

Got one on my chest when I started working in my 20s, got another one when I was remarried in Sept. Didn't want to wear a wedding band so got my wife's initial on my ring finger instead.
I love tattoos but in some ways they're sort of being cliche now. They're for sure addictive though

I have nothing against tattoos in principle and have thought of getting one from time to time, but I wouldn't want it to be just anything.

I would want it to be something important and meaningful to me but also look cool. I thought perhaps something gaming related but I don't want to wear someone else's intellectual property/brand on my skin, I'm not a billboard. I could get something from one of my own games but nothing has really been life defining yet. As fo other personal shit, nothing really stands out and I'm a constantly evolving person, what I liked/was important to me 10 years ago isn't as big a deal to me now, glad I didn't get a tattoo in my early 20s cause I would've almost certainly regretted it now (early 30s).
