I only ever played the demo for Suikoden IV.

Would be surprised if Konami announce an HD-2D remake of Suikoden II for its 25th anniversary, let alone a new mainline entry.

At least you have Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes releasing next year.

A collection would be great but they'll probably piecemeal out each title, like Suikoden 1 HD-Remake in early 2023, Suidoken 2 HD-Remake in 2024 (but delayed to 2025), and the rest of the series never because the first two remakes won't sell enough.

The later titles suffer from typical ass-ugly PS2 3D graphics, but otherwise they're solid games, especially Suikoden 5 and Suikoden Tactics.

I have the originals so I'm good, what could push me over here is including translated versions of the two Gaiden releases (visual novels, not RPGs) that were Japan exclusive. Unlikely for this to happen though.

Oooh I've only ever heard good things about these games but never played them when I was younger. Not sure I will find the time but it's very tempting.
Indeed these games are very good and have their own unique flair that is hard to compare to other games. Part 1 is around 12 hours or so (not going for full completion, very hard to do so without a guide anyway), so it's not a huge time commitment compared to other games.

Massive fan of Suikoden and Suikoden II so I'll definitely be purchasing this. I wonder what brought on this remaster from Konami?

Testing the waters for a revival? Quick cash grab? Fan employees who really wanted to re-release it? Did they look at the popular attention that Eiyuden Chronicle seems to be getting and decided they would test the waters again? Hard to say but I'm damn happy this is being released.

Only Suikoden I played was the original and it was unique in a way RPG's still haven't really done.

The amount of characters you can collect/use is just nuts but ultimately what happens as you get deep in the game you will have a few OP favorites and it's either grind forever or use your OP characters.

I don't see myself replaying Suikoden though, might give 2 or other sequels a try which I never played.

It's really good, but it starts out pretty slow. About 5-10 hours in it takes off and never lets up. Best in the series next to 2 imo.
2 is one of my favorite Jrpgs of all time. I definitely have to give 5 a shot. Hoping for a remaster one day
