Dude had his own personal doctor Leslie Thompkins. Batman has a network of people he relies on who all know his secret identity. Batman has contingency plans for everything. I imagine he even has contingency plans for beating himself! Like having Alfred contact some alternate timeline Batman to come kick Batman's own ass.
The thing I really like about Batman though, is his give no fucks attitude. He's not a people pleaser like beta male Peter Parker:

Spidey feels dated, there are similar characters that are just cooler than him now (like Deadpool). The whole I must constantly make jokes and one liners thing that Spidey was known for has been done so much over the years. Buffy the Vampire Slayer did it, Guardians of the Galaxy did it, a lot of Joss Whedon written characters and MCU characters in general have done it. It's kind of old now.
His powers and abilities aren't that noteworthy either. He has super strength? So does Superman. He's smart? So is Tony Stark and Batman. Spider Sense? Flash has fucking super speed. I'm pretty sure he beats Spider-Man in the, "I can avoid anything" category. But Spidey doesn't kill! So what? That's true of like a dozen other super heroes now. But Spidey's the coolest hero in New York! I think Daredevil would like a word with you.
The only answers they've had for trying to get Spidey to be cool again is to make him woke (see recent Spider-Man games), replace him with a race swap named Miles Morales, make him Doctor Octopus (Seriously, what the fuck was that about?), introduce some movies with like 50 alternate universe versions of him, or just make him MCU's Tony Stark Jr.
I used to like Spider-Man a lot many years ago (even have a bunch of Spider-Man comics), but it's like once I reached a certain age I didn't really care anymore. Batman I've liked since I was a kid and still do now. He never stops being cool no matter what age you are. Same goes for the X-Men, Wolverine in particular.

I hated this plotline, and I hate that Bruce Timm double downed on it in the follow up comics, Batman beyond, and even shoehorned a sex scene into the fucking Killing Joke animated film of all things.

He is STILL getting cucked by him. Marvel editors have gone so far as to say that Spider-Man is not allowed to ever settle down with MJ again in the main comic lines.
Thats why Ultimate Spider-Man v2 is doing much better than the mainline book. It features an adult Peter who has been married with kids with MJ for over a decade and she is a supportive and loving wife.
Marvel editors want to keep the "real" Peter infantile and a permanent loser teenager until they feel they can completely replace him with Miles, something theyre super butthurt they have not been able to do simply
because that character is nowhere near as popular.

That's not true at all. Barb has routinely been discouraged from taking misguided action time and again and listened to her betters, and when she didn't listen she's reminded that she should. Batman is her leader, same with the rest of the Batman family. Suggesting otherwise is silly. As Oracle she was literally answering directly to Batman. Even when she was leading her own Super-hero team with the Birds of Prey she would acknowledge Batman as both a father figure and a leader. He's the patriarch of the family. Which is one of the reasons people think it's so weird when they force a sexual relationship between the two.

Yeah? Tim Drake forced Batman to acknowledge him as Robin in the comics, did that make him the boss? No it didn't. He was still taking orders and following him, same with Barbara. Bats accepted him for the same reasons that he did Barb, bc she was going to do it anyway. Better with his direction than without.
Bruce doesn't take orders from her.
She's 18 when she's first introduced in the show in the episode Heart of Steel, and Bruce makes a comment about how much she's grown up, specifically how it's been four years since he had last seen her. He's known her since she was a child. Shit man, she was carrying a damn teddy bear with her in the scene(granted Gordon brought it to her). Gordon and Bruce have also had a long association, trusting each other enough for him to put Dick in Bruce's custody after his parents were killed when he was a child. He likely knew Barbara much earlier in her life as well.
Also, an 18 year old is 100 percent is a kid. Especially to a man in his 30s. This is especially obvious when you've dated one when you're at that age. Hell if you have any kind of extended interaction with a person at that age.

I probably choose not to with anyone under 25, were I suddenly no longer married under tragic circumstances, on the grounds that I'm really seeking a long term relationship and remarriage and not someone who isn't ready to settle down for the long haul. Sorry, but I cannot help but feel there is something predatory about a man who is in his mid to late thirties trying to date a girl who he has known since she was a child. Bruce has known Barbara since she was a kid, through his close relationship with her father, that he's shared since HE was child. Bruce even admits he thinks of Gordon as a father figure, which is another gross layer to it.
Not wanting to deal with a woman who is not on your emotional, intellectual, or hell even fiscal level is pretty reasonable. There's also the social issues you'd have to deal with but if you don't care about that more power to you.

Here is what I understand, and so that you will know where I'm coming from. I met my wife-to-be when she was 22. I was 29. I gave more consideration to the age gap than most other people ever would, and in the end all that mattered was that she was agreeable with our age gap and so were her parents and her siblings and all their extended family and friends were all agreeable to me dating her. We married when she was 23 and I was 30.
She was ready to settle down.
Me being 40, if something goes wrong and she's gone, I will not be dating women "in my age range" most likely. If those are the options, rare will be the woman who catches my eye or piques my interest, and I will simply be single.
